Seems rather high.....

Samsung is selling ( direct, not thru their TV Dealers) TV monitors for commercial use. 3 years warranty, + 2 GB on board memory, direct play of most video formats thru USB ( including Powerpoint ! ) for Rs 30K including Tax.... Mumbai

Are you looking for PC monitor or TV? The highest resolution LED TV is 1080p (1920x1080). The price ranges from 28K to 50K+ in 32" size. If TV is what you are looking for, you can look at the various web sites. They quote MRP. Deals are very location dependent. I found that Pune dealers don't offer too much discount.

I am looking primarily for a High res Computer monitor.

Apple offers a 27 inch monitor with 2119 x 1600 resolution, but the price is Unrealistic ... actually STUPID :-(

My plan is to use a TV as a monitor, as better VFM.

Samsung offers Monitors that can ALSO be used as a full fleged TV, with the advantage of playback of several video formats, + 3 year on site warranty, for a price not higher than a regular 32 inch TV.

It provides full HD resolution,.

However I am looking for a monitor or TV set that can provide more than just 1920 x 1080 at a 'reasonable' price... say upto Rs 50K.

Any suggestions ?

If your main use for the display is as a computer monitor then go for a 27 inch Dell Ultrasharp monitor. They have a couple of models in this range with a resolution of 2560x1440 (WQHD) and they comes with the usual 3-Year warranty. Also if colour accuracy is important then Dell's Ultrasharp monitors would be better than most TVs.

Some commerical displays might be priced lower than a TV but most cheaper commercial display's main priority is power saving and picture quality comes next. Static images looks great in these displays but when it comes to videos their motion handling and video processing is not as good as most consumer TVs priced in the same range.

THANKS Nishanth, on Both counts

Can you provide me some indicative Indian pricing for the Del Ultra Sharp Monitor's ?

Do you have a model number so that I can look up on the net ?

Have a look at the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM , price of this should be around 50K.

There is also another new 27 inch Ultrasharp model listed but I am not sure about the price of this model, it should be a little higher than the U2713HM. If gaming performance is important then this model would be a little better as it has a better response time.

@IndianEars
Just want to know why you requires higher resolution on comparatively smaller screen? Even 1050P is more than enough for detail readings up to 32"

Any display with very high native resolution will always tend stretch /fit with lesser resolution input. In short TV won't look that good as it will have lesser input pixels. If you get 1080P then it will match and look good if you feeding FHD tv signals

Hi Viper,

Thanks for your comments.

As I have mentioned, my Primary use is as a Computer Monitor. I want a computer monitor with a resolution better than 1920 x 1080.

The few Computer monitors that offer this are priced "Silly" ... eg Rs 70,000 for a 27 inch ( Apple) or 30 inch DELL.

hence I am exploring buying a TV set which will obviously be mich cheaper, and using it as a computer monitor.

Its hard to appreciate that there is no 32 inch TV available in india will a resolution better than True HD ( 1920 x 1080 ).

That is what i an enquiring on this forum.

The 30 inch one is priced at Rs 74,000 !!!!!!!!!!!!

That puts it in the "Silly Price" league for me !:sad:

A TV is a different ball game. A couple of or three years ago, the 32" TVs were 720p resolution only. The TV signal is not beyond 1080p as of today. Even worldwide, TVs with more than 1080p resolution are available in extreme large sizes only - such as 80"+. For the mainstream TV, 1920x1080 is the max resolution.

You can buy CRT monitors that can do much more than 1440 x 1080 (4:3) resolution. Of course, the CRT size will be an issue.
