Just recovered a hmv 1010 stereo. I got it from a person who was ready to sell it for Rs.200 only!!
After 6 days hard work, it's now up and running with excellent reproduction (though minute reproduction is not possible by it and also not expected from it as it has ceramic cart and ceramic inbuilt phono stage). I'm surprised by the quality of reproduction even after 30 years!!uploadfromtaptalk1406918373275.jpguploadfromtaptalk1406918387352.jpg

Do you have the original matching HMV speakers? This was HMV's stock model back then and sold in big numbers. There was also the 1212 and 1515. The 1010 is a very decent sounding stereo record player. Great job. Whenever I hear that a HMV record player is purchased, salvaged or repaired, my heart lightens with joy as I was in love with HMV players right from childhood.

Yes, I've two pairs of hmv boxes. Though I've 1212 model but I prefer the output of 1010.. thanks ruben for your appreciation..

Nice little player that 1010 is. My best friend has this player at his place which was bought by his father. Unfortunately, the tone arm is now broken. The only issue I see with this type of HMV tonearm is the heavy tracking weight. In fact, the arm, if not adjusted well by the spring beneath, can result in robbing off some noticeable speed from the spinning record!

IIRC, this set also has a radio receiver built in.

The pick up can be well adjusted by the spring and the two screws. Now a days, more light weight tone arm is available for these models.
