m new to this forum...actually i recently bought sony home theater system DAV-DZ340k....now the problem is that it is not rendering 5.1 surround ..it seems every speaker is giving same output...not getting that dolby feeling will somebody help me out :( ....m not getting any option to turn on PROLOGIC or so ...just getting sound modes like standard, hifi , bgm, clear voice nad 2 channel...help me guyz :(

Sounds like it's in the BGM (background music) mode, where the same sound is output from all the speakers. Try the Movie or Standard modes.

It can be changed surely. ther will be sound mode were it will be options like prologic, standard, multi etc...

Well it also depends on what type of disk you are playing. Pirated dvds are often poorly encoded and does not atall contain DD 5.1 track. Get hold of some original action DVDs and play the action sequence.

Other wise check the whether you have attached the correct pair of +/- wires to correct speaker terminals.

Navigate DVD Player menu, there is a provision to check sound from all the speakers. Try to locate it, run the test.

You don't have to use Dolby prologic mode to get surround sound. If the disk has DD 5.1 track, you will automatically get the effects.

Downlaod the trailers of Dolby from this link Dolby/DTS/THX Trailers | Movies - Digital Digest

Try to raise the volume of surround speakers a bit.

Have you placed them properly? Refer to your HT manual. It has a diagram.

Yea...buddy placed them properly ...n increased the vol to little higher...now the sound is li little better but still that surround feel is not coming :(

now i figured out ....actually in the audio settings DRC was set to MAX so i turned it OFF n now it seem to throw 5.1 output
