It should be easy to use with a one-time setup, as my parents will use it. It will primarily be used with Plex, Netflix, and Jellyfin. 10k margin. do not know if I should get a sound bar or HT. It must provide a surround sound and sound decent. Parents do not have any preference as it will be a surprise gift.

Sound bar is better. Else go with Denon x250bt avr and 2 pairs of Taga 807s as front left and right abd left surround abd right surround with Taga 807 center channel. You can add taga 10 inch sub down the line.

If Parents have to use then possibly a Sound Bar or a 2.1 setup will make sense as connectivity and ease of use needs to be factored in. Get something simple to use and maintain if they are not too tech savvy.

Most important is to ensure to get the right 2.1 or Soundbar with Subwoofer set. Check the TV as in what kind of connectivity it has (Optical / Analog / eARC HDMI etc.) There should also be the Bluetooth option should one of the parents wants to play something from their mobile phone.

Once you shortlist the brands and models after checking online reviews, the connectivity options etc. then audition the same with respective dealers / shops and make the purchase.
