Hi,

I am looking for a Home theatre,I am new to this HT system.my budget is 40k,and my requirement is 60% movie + 40% music.

thanks in advance
Rajesh

2 options
1.onkyo 3400/denon 1312xp/yamaha 296 entry level htib...all 26k to 33k...
2.denon 1612 avr and 2 sonodyne sonus bookshelf/wharf bookshelf/polk bookshelf
(buy centre,sub,surrounds later)

very imp---keep away from sony/lg/panasonic/samsung TOY HOME THEATERS.

another choice go for a integrated amp and 2 speaker...instead of avr.that will be 2 channel but sound wise better and a solid system than 40k avr ht system.

I would stay away from Onkyo HTIB as I have started with an Onkyo HTIB and used it for 3 years. The model I had was HTS-320. My problems were

1. The setup was sounding very bright.
2. The subwoofer is not good at all. It made very bad uneven bass. I mean some times very boomy, sometimes very thin.
3. The 2 channel stereo performance was not good either .

Also on my my front speakers of my Onkyo HTIB broke after 3 years of usage.

I don't know about the latest HTIB offering from Onkyo.

However I recently heard a Denon 1312 based entry level system and found it to be sounding better than Onkyo. The speakers were Denon 5.1 satellite speakers.

I would recommend a system based on Denon / Yamaha AVR with matching speakers.

My 2 cents...

-John.

Onkyo 3500 for 28k.... Is this worthy to buy?
Or shuld I go with denon 1612 with Polk tower speakers
Can any one suggest the best price for denon 1612 & Polk tower speakers at hyd or at bnglre.
One more option is pioner HTP-RS32 site mentioned price is 40k

jbl scs200.5 is very good for the price.its cost around 16k.you can add a denon 1312 or 1612 for it.
or else extend your budget.
denon avr 1312 or 1612
astonia ps2000 subwoofer and yamaha ns series 5.0 package

yes denon 1312xp is always a better choice than onkyo 3400.

but best is separate...1612 and 2 bookshelfs within 12k.....

Has anyone considered monoprice speakers? They got good reviews in this forum. I think people looking at building a 5.1 system in a low budget can consider these.

One more is added to the list
Jamo H 606 scs pair of tower speakers for 30k
Any reviews on this.
My main requirement is i like bass more and action part of the movie should be more crispy
I wll build my ht later on first i need is a good receiver and tower.
Range 40-50k at max

for movies you must need a good subwoofer.take a look at the astonia subwoofer.add bookshelf like jbl controle now or yamaha ns series.

go with denon 1612 and polk /sonodyne speakers....very good combo.
demoing is important for you liking.
you can get easily 2 spaekers and a 1612 within 50k...
polk/wharfdale/sonodyne......listen all with 1612 and cgechk which one is you liking.....

yes coorect for movies you need sub,but wait and build step by step.

for movie only purpose can start with a centre and a sub only.
buy tower(fronts),surrounds later

Onkyo HT-S3400/3500 is great for someone on a tight budget but if budget is 40k then please do not go for any HTIB systems. You should go for seperates :

OPTION 1 : AVR + 5.1 Speaker System
OPTION 2 : AVR + 2 Front speakers (build the system speaker by speaker)

I would prefer OPTION 2 where you get really 2 good front speakers which will work better than OPTION 1. Some of the good names are :

AVR : Marantz, Denon, Onkyo
Speakers : Wharfedale, Boston Acoustics, Jamo, Polk Audio, etc.............

Boston Acoustics XS 5.1 is an excellent 5.1 speaker system, if you want to go with Option 1. Ensure you hear as many speakers with different AVR's and then decide. Generally you want to match a bright AVR with warm speakers and vice versa.

Sonus 2605 V3 - - any reviews about this tower speakers..
How will it sound..
should i go with towers Sonus 2605 V3 or with Jamo S 606
with pioneer 822 avr.

Speakers should sound with more punch for bass..

Since you have already selected the options. It will better if you can audition these and then compare the sound signature that you have felt. :)
