I would like to know best way to connect TV,surge protector and UPS. Is it TV->UPS->Surge Protector OR TV->Surge Protector->UPS.

Read this article and you can decide based on the quality of your protectors and backup.

Spike & Surge protectors are not very effective at regulating voltage - they don't take care of the Sags and Dips of the voltage. The spike is chopped off and an irregular wave is the output. It is preferable to have a good UPS that has an inbuilt protector as well a good power line conditioner to regulate the voltage.

My current setup -
I have a protector built into the main board (that supplies the house). The line then goes through an AC inverter which ensures continuous supply for almost everything in the house(excepting A/C , Kitchen equipment). At the power outlet , I have a heavy duty servo stabilizer and from there to the media equipment.

Hope this helps.

Direct surge ( industrial grade ) always good and stable on surge protection otherwise UPS itself circuit for handling surge spikes and pure voltage supply .
Servo stabilizer never helps on high surge and spikes meant for handling voltage flucatation.
CITEL surge protectors, protection against transient overvoltages

Normally we can handle surge by puttings 350 v TVS diode on power boards or can put relay and gas discharge diode with some limit but putting surge on Main as shown in pics always advisable and helpful for protecting electronic devices .

If a servo voltage stabilizer is used at house main's ....do we need individual voltage stabilizer's for like LED and other AV electronics.??

My house electrical setup is like :
Main's ->Servo Stab -> Inverter ->Room's electric socket's -> Surge protector strips ->Offline + APC UPS -> PC / AVR.

Do i need to Surge protector attached to the main's ?

My LED TV's are all connected to surge protector strips drawing current from wall sockets so i had query regarding need of dedicated Voltage Stab like Vguard Digi series or UPS to protect it from damage ?

After reading so many threads on Stabilizers / Online UPS and Surge Protectors.....i am really confused as i got 4 LED's in my house and don't want to take chances though electricity failure's are rare at this time of year but some time electric trip down happens for 1-2 minutes for that I have inverter which provides power to whole house.I don't use any AV devices on power cuts so do i need a dedicated UPS for all LED TV's to just switch off ?

PS: Original thread starter didn't intended to hijack your thread just that i got similar query that you posted.

Installing Surge protector on Main face of supply good enough , UPS and external surge device cannot protect on high surges .
Open any device which claim protection you will see TVS diode which limit 350~450 v ---cannot protect over currunt and high surge spikes .
I have obesreved same on our India largest BTS network , and Rural connectivty where we have to deploy FCC based device which currunt limit is 2~4 KVA where CE device meant for home protection max 1 KVA protection even lower .

So as per your post ....i conclude that installing Surge Protector on Main's will be best to control or even bypass surge.

What type or kind off surge protection should i go for...i have absolutely no idea about electric subjects:o:o

I am still awaiting to know " Do i need dedicated UPS + Voltage Stabilizers for LED Tv's ? "

Thanks.

No you will need one ups for supplying backup power which is good enough if power not stable you can install servo ...if power supply comes through inverter install only surge at main power supply , we have almost over 7 lacks BTS station all over india where we need to delivery stable DATA connectivity to RURAL or class B C D E cities .
I have mentioned product details which we using everywhere for main surge protections .

I guess you missed some part of my first post !

I have Servo connected to Main's which is further connected to Inverter which provides back up power to whole house. Then i got surge protection strips( Belkin sockets strips ) from which i have connected my various devices like TV/PC......

So what i need to know is that ....when power cut happens inverter provides back up to all including TV and computers......but reading threads here got me confused regarding " its better to have dedicated voltage stab like vguard crystal or digi-200 daisy chained with UPS like APC's 650 or 1.1Kva....to provide back up "

Now here is what i need to know -

1. Do i need digital stabilizer for TV's considering i have big Servo @Main's ?
2. Do i need UPS just for TV's as we have for PC's considering inverter is providing full back up ?
3. Which Surge protector should i install which can be easily procured from India( New Delhi ) that local electrician can install.( Do they have capacity like MCB's on Main's have? )

Thanks !

Kindly read my first post in details ...if you have connected servo --inverter --- then no need for deploying any surge protected strips which is useless ..and not give you an advantage ....just put industrial surge protection in Main then your investor circuit will good enough to provides you stable power ...
I have connected same for my 55 inch LEd tv , quad 22L2 and quad center with pioneer vsx 1020 with extemerpro .....and different room stereo setup quad Elite pre power ,CDP Cambridge audio 640 c and cambridge audio latest addition NP 30 with powerline adapater for connecting my NAS which lying in different room , hope you can trust on the right way of surge protection which Iam working on same field for deploying WiMAX ,Lte , and countrywide wireless deployment with fiber where custmor end power even worst and not stable and contribute almost 20 -30 percent device failure .

Yes Sir i have gone through your post few times and got very good insight about what should i get.So i am now going to install Surge protector on Main's while discarding any plans of getting UPS just for TV.

Thanks !

hay pl dont call me sir ...any help reqiured pl let me know , we have tie up with below compony , I will provide you best pricing which we getting .

you will need to install 2 switches Class _ B which protect 500 v Class_C which protects 1500 V which can protect whole house and servo to all devices .

Sure will get hold of you and thanks.

Updates on model details and pricing you can also check other brand too and discuss electrician for installation .

VAL MS 320 1+1 = 2200 Rs ...( for line protection )

Let me know anything you required .

Hi

Just want to ask you gents where I can get this surge device or servo to connect to mains. What should be the wattage of the device? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I fried my brand new pioneer 1121k because of a voltage spike and want to be extra careful.

Thanks din advance

Very nice.

I am looking for some protection for the TV + STB + PS3 as soon as I get them.

After having evaluated option of sine wave inverter, I am now thinking of just putting in a servo stabilizer.
The Sollatek SVS04 is available for Rs. 2900 (MRP) - actual cost is going to be lesser.

How does that compare to the products mentioned above?

Hi vakhoria

Please understand the basic of the surge and spikes protections

All ups only can protect voltage ups and downs they are not meant for handling spikes and surges .

I will suggest put surge and spikes protector only and inverter is enough for handling voltage and all , i don't wanna confused you but we should know the truth instead of going product sales gimmicks .

Thanks

^^ While most UPSs only regulate voltage, some models especially the costlier once have surge protector/spike buster in the output. I have a Supra LI UPS which will trip even under a slight lightning much far away from my house. There is no need to use another spike buster in the output of such UPSs.
