Pls help me to fix the 4mm twin screw gold banana plugs (DAC) to my newly purchased Whearfedale diamond 9.5 speakers.

The plug has unscrewable pin and the purpose is beyond my understanding. I am at present having the plug inserted into the side hole of the threaded connector in the binding post (meant for inserting bare wire) and locked it with the nut.

Thanks in advance for the inputs.

Should be fairly straightforward.

Tools: Philips Screw Driver, Cable Pliers

Strip you cable insulation (the vinyl covering) with the pliers of atleast 1/2 inch. Use the right gauge for proper pull out. wind the wire tight into a thick bunch.

For the banana plugs, remove the vinyl/plastic holder at the bottom.

Loosen or completely disengage the screws using the philips screw driver

Push the banana plug holder onto the cable. (you can also do this as the first step)

Push the exposed wire into the metal housing at the back and tighten the screws on the plug.

Tug at it to make sure its secure.
Pull the plastic holder upto cover your job :)

Total time for a pair of plugs should be about 1-2 mins.

Hi... My problem is not with connecting the wire (i use DAC 2.5 sq.mm 14 AWG) to the 4 mm banana plug. The real problem is connecting the BP to the socket on the binding post. The sockets of Wharf Diamond 9.5 , is too small to accept 4mm plugs. OR does it require brute force to get it inserted?

Let me tell you the steps i carried out. I unscrewed the transparent plastic female screw caps (pair of Red and Black) of the BP and then removed the small plastic plug (Red & Black color) from the tip of its counterpart and tried to insert 4 mm banana plugs with reasonable force, but in vain.

Therefore, i inserted the BPs into the cross section hole of the counterpart that is supposed to accommodate bare cable and tightened the screw caps.

Need another clarification. The length of the BP is approx 25 mm, whereas the BP's socket hole has not even 15 mm depth. How this wil ensure good contact?

Had the exact same problem myself. Initially did what Audiodoc/Atozguy did.

Ultimately gave up trying and reached a compromise :-

1. Existing DAC bananas shifted to AVR (perfect fit)
2. New MX bananas connected to 9.5 (ditto)

Everybody happy !!!

Only today I tried with a different 4mm Banana plug, Totally unscrewed the binding post nuts, then using forceps removed the red and black color plugs, re screwed the posts. Now my new banana plugs go smoothly in with a firm fit.

Can you specify the brand and description of the "different 4 mm BP"

My experience .... Wharfedale Obsidian 600

Getting the tiny plastic plugs out of the speaker jacks was my greatest difficulty. The damn things are banged in near flush with the end of the jack and a sharp knife was necessary (tried jeweller's screwdriver first) though still very difficult and hazardous to prise the 'lil suckers out.

Fitting the Banana Plug was a tight push in but that is because the outer sheath compresses to the smaller diameter of the jack for a firm fit. Trouble is the depth of the jack. It does not allow the Banana Plug to go in all the way hence the plug is a little loose but I still functional.
