Posting here as need help from the FM experts here.

I got a new SR5009 today and i am facing audio drop issue while playing blu ray or viewing d2h. Both are connected to my AVR and one ARC out is connected to my LED TV (which supports ARC).

Any TV audio on my AVR or USB played music directly from AVR are playing fine. It seems to be issue only with the HDMI connected directly on AVR.

i did the firmware update right at the start. so not sure if the problem was there earlier. Factory reset didn't help either. One of the FM member have similar AVR/Firmware update and there seems to be no issue.

Can someone help what can be the issues.

Thanks for enquiry. The dealer sent a person from marantz authorized service center to check if the issue is genuine. After checking today, he confirmed that there is a issue with the AVR.

Meanwhile the dealer asked me to send a mail in writing marking him / copying the MZ about the issue as well. The dealer would now do the needful for replacement. That's the story as of now. Will keep you posted.

Thanks.

Thanks Elago.... But I will be only happy when I get the courier package number for the new AVR and it should eventually work as well - till then i will keep my fingers crossed :)

It's an excellent receiver and I enjoyed listening to music / movies for past couple of days but for this issue. Let's see, how it goes...

Understand what you are running thru... Don't worry... Hope you get a good one this time...

Yes, Marantz AVR is great for music too....

I have a marantz 5003 with the same issue. Receiver works fine, except no HDMI. I got it that way for cheap so I am not complaining.
The Thing marantz did that other manufacturers did not is that a HDMI marantz receiver will work as a receiver when the HDMI dies. If this was another make, when HDMI goes, the whole receiver goes with it. Not marantz.

Cool.

I got new unit few days back, but the issue still exists. Now i do not want to blame the AVR. These are the workarounds I have done so far:

1) Changed HDMI cables - didn't work
2) checked firmware updates - didn't work
3) Changed the order in which I power up these systems - didn't work
4) tried reasonable checks on the settings of each of these systems - didn't work

When I connect the source directly to AVR, without display, there is no audio drops. It is only when I power up the TV and make the ARC port active, then the audio drops starts.

It must be either the ARC Port at TV at fault (LG LED TV is just 7-8 months old) or the firmware in my TV isn't matching with the AVR. I will try a reset to my TV later today see if that helps or will have to wait for new firmware update for this issue to resolve.

I do not think the AVR port in my TV can be faulty as when I connect all sources to my TV and only the ARC Port to the AVR, there is absolutely no issue at all....

Time to do dive further into this...

unfortunately,5009 is a faulty model.after thorough research in online forums i went for 5008 & happy with it.even in US,many customers have reported such issues with the 5009.

I think otherwise. There may be lot of people who have got it and found no issues. One of our FM 'Saj' is currently owning it and found no issues.

I have tested this with all options and it's working fine. It is also works fine if i go with all to TV and only the ARC to AVR. There were freezing up issues at the release of this AVR, but I guess it's been sorted out with their latest firmware updates.

I am still positive :)

Hi...
Why don't you change HDMI out from AVR to another HDMI input of your TV (instead of connecting to ARC HDMI port).
Or Did I misunderstand your problem?
can you pl explain in detail?

Just some related information:
The audio cuts off and on at regular intervals of 1 second on my SR5008 when it's connected to my computer monitor when the monitor is both simultaneously set to a different input and in stand by mode. Switching off (or on) the monitor fixes the issue.

I am also experiencing audio is low if I connect AVR to TV ARC(HDMI). If I connect AVR to TV other HDMI then sound is fine for the same volume. Why it is like this. Then we should not connect to TV ARC. AVR is Denon X1100W and TV is Sony W900B.

Thanks for the suggestion.

1) I tried connecting to different port apart from ARC in the TV - The problem was same with audio drops every 25-30 seconds

2) I tried switching off the TV while the blu ray movies are going on. There was no audio drop as the TV display is off. Then when i tried to switch ON the display, the audio drops again started.

So certainly issue starts when there is VIDEO display. I may have to reset my TV to see if that would solve the issue.

Fallen sick. So wouldn't be able to do more testing especially reset TV and check if it works. Will have to wait for a week [emoji17]

Hi All, today's firmware update solved my audio drop issues :)

It's pity that I had to do so much of workarouds all these while... :)
