I was recently given an amplifier, a cassette deck and a pair of (huge) speakers by my dad, which he had bought way back in 84. Anyway, I thought that it would be cool to have a vintage music system and am therefore looking forward to setting it up. But the problem is that the system is almost 28 years old so Im not sure whether the inputs/outputs on it will be compatible with the modern day audio connectors.

So basically what Im asking is for a way to allow me to play music form my iPod on the aforementioned system.

Ive given below the specs and photos relating to the cassette deck, amplifier and speakers.

P.S. Im new to this and am not familiar with the jargon, so it would be a big help if you guys could dumb down your answers for me.

Thanks.

Nice way to ask a question....really people simply put a 1 liner and expect the moon

1) Please can you upload photographs of sdpeakrs and esp speakers backside - photo of speaker input connectors and if possible speakers information label?

I think if the componants are working THIS WILL WORK. Nothing has changed. Your amp has RCA connectors for input and spring connectors for speakers ,so it must work

if your speakers have special connector , that can be too arranged

BTW what is ur location? Here forum members can visit your place to up ur system

HAVEA ROCKIN TIME!

Just confirm first if the system is working by playing some tape on the deck. I am assuming you have connected the system. If not someone can help you connect. Of course where on "earth" are you???

Nothing much has changed in music......

Can't do that, sorry, don't have a decent camera with me right now but what I can tell you is that the speakers have screws with + and - labels.
So i guess thats where I attach the speakers cables, by wrapping them around the screws and then fastening them back into the speaker right ??

Your dad should be complimented for keeping his gear in such great shape...and for letting you have them. Not too many fathers would gift they loved gear to their sons :)

Congrats on your accquisition. Not difficult to set it up. Cables and plugs are easily available.
