I just placed an order with Avenue Sound for a pair of Pioneer SP-52FS-LR floorstanders and a Pioneer VSX523.
The items are being imported and are expected around mid-Jan.
I'm on a tight budget, and want to know if I've chosen a decent receiver. I was planning on getting the VSX323 as it was once available for Rs.15600 on snapdeal.
Avenue Sound offered me the VSX523 at roughly the same price, along with the Andrew Jones speakers at Rs.20000 a pair.
I can't find any review of the VSX523 online that talks about the quality of the music it plays, and I'm not sure if I've made the right choice. I placed the order just yesterday, so I think there's still time for me to make changes.
My primary purpose is to listen to stereo music, but a couple of years down the line I plan on using the receiver in a dedicated home theater room. For now,I'm going to connect my HTPC to the receiver and play music, and movies through XBMC, hence I don't think I need bluetooth or networking capabilities as I'll be controlling the system through my HTPC. (correct me if I'm wrong)
I like to listen to Western classical music, rock, trance, dance, and pop.
The best pair of speakers I've owned are a set of Creative Inspire 6.1's.
I'm not looking for perfection, but I'd like to have something that's a BIG step up, and gives me great bang for the buck.
This is a blind buy.
A couple of music shops I visited (in Pune) advised me to go for Dali bookshelves, but I found their range limited, and decided I need full range speakers.
