Ht in 18*18 room

One my friend looking for Ht . Room size 18*18.
He is cinsidering 7.1. Budget 3laks. Please advise.

Square room is a nightmare. Spend well for seating, acoustics first. Use the remaining amount on good Amp, speaker, dac, cables in that order

I agree, square rooms will be a pain. I think Dirac would help a great deal if done right, correct me if I am wrong.
However if there is a bass suck out then additional subs will be required to compensate.

First, square rooms are not so recommended for home theater use. but it's not an impossible task. A lot of people are using square rooms and are very happy with it. If you add a little room treatment, it will be perfect. Better to go with 2 subwoofers and move around rooms and find the ideal spot; this is the only difficult task. You can go with 7.2.4. ( later you can add power amp for that 2 additional channels )

subwoofer-svs,rel,ascendo( either of this will be a good options)
monolith,tone winner and rhythmic ( i dont know if its fit in your budget after avr and speaker purchase )

Square rooms only has issues with bass frequencies due to room modes, which can be solved used multi subs and proper calibration. jbl studio or stage series, Polk R series or xt series are good at that price range.
