Please suggest me for a entry level HT package is Denon 1312xp is good or Yamaha YT 298 is better than it. Please suggest a HT package within 35k range..will like to purchase separate speaker setup later.but in perspective of BD movie viewing and music listening..suggest a good HT package or better VFM package.

Denon 1312xp is good but so are Onkyo 3500 and Yamaha YT 298. Best is to audition. But I don't expect too much difference between them - Denon may be warm while Onyo may be slightly bright, etc. For movies, where it is normally dialog and surround sound, this does not matter much. For music, the HTiBs packages may disappoint slightly but then again depends upon how critical you are.

As of now want to go with an entry level setup..movie to music ratio is 4:1..want very good bass and clear dialog sound..THD as low as possible. Please suggest.

Please suggest whether it's good to go with separate AVR and speaker in the same price range. Please give me some good options.

Separates always do wonders to your overall movie watching experience. If you have a budget of 35K, add 5-7K more and get 20K AVR and 20K speakers.

For AVRs you can take a look at Yamaha-371 or Denon 1312 or Pioneer VSX 522K.

For 5.1 speakers, you can take a look at Jamo S426 (without sub) or JBL SCS200.5 or JBL CS460 (both with sub) at around 20-21k.

lake brother please go for separates.
you are in the same position as i was....doing hurry and got and htib and then dissatisfied..
dont waste your hard earned money.
go separate...

get step by step if tight in budget.
a 20k-30k avr and 15k LR pair/15k-20k LCR...set up will do wonder.....
there are entry level avr from yamaha/onkyo and denon within this range...
wharfedale 9/sonodyne are good inexpensive speakers...within the range...

and i have listened to denon 1312xp and 3400 both...for 2 ch denon was good..for movies i liked 3400....
anyway..please go for separate...

I am not sure if you have already seen these links, but in case you haven't, please see these :-

Onkyo HT-S5405 Owners Thread | AVForums.com - UK Online

The best thing about Onkyo HT S5405 is the active subwoofer and the value for money..
My personal experience is that HTiB packages will sound good for people who are new to the Home theatre world. The moment you start hearing the seperate AVR + speaker combination, you will not like the sound of HTiB. This is my personal opinion. Irrespective of all the suggestions, if you are 100% convinced with HTiB, then go for that. After all, money is the most important thing in your decison making. If you still have some doubts and tight on budget, go with incremental setups as prosenjit suggested.

start with a centre only then if budget is tight...belive me..you wont regret.
but go separate.
dont make the same mistake i did...bought htib in hurry thinking it will be enough..
are you free to import..no warranty.110v etc..then...i just saw an onkyo 616 is only 400 usd in amazon..
anyway there are denon models and yamahas under 30k...here..

for centre...you can take
polk tsi cs 10...10k,
polk rti csiA4 15k,
wharfedale 9 cc for 10k...and
wharfedale 10.1 cc for 12k.....etc.....

for movie only centre serves pretty well alone...in a tight budget.
for mixed use..a LCR is needed..
but 2 fronts only are not good..as in 6 ch recordings..90 percent maal material stayes in centre...

other spkrs can be bought later on...

go to profx gariahat anyday and have a demo....they are nice people..me and mate chirag went there yesterday..chirag picked a denon 2113...he got the sonodynes previosuly....we tested with his centre and denons...belive me we tested just on centre..others speakers and sub unpluggged...it was pretty good...
also they are providing full emi offer....just like tv showrooms...
fro wharfe demo..there is a shop at new alipore...

I am thinking to raise my budget to 80k....all polk speakers but should I go with denon only..or search more various other avrs.

Onkyo-TX NR414, Denon-1713, Yamaha RX-V473, Pioneer VSX-822K
(not in order of preference) these could be your options at entry levels. Demo the different combinations and decide whichever sounds best to your ears.

if raising budget ..
go for denon 2113 at 45k...
buy polk rti bs and centre..shd be within 35k...
obviously listen to other speakers and combos..as well...

denon polk go very very well for movies

later get sub and rears...

go to profx...me and member chirag enjoyed a solid demo there...highly recomended..plus emi is also there..
it would be my pleasure to accompany you......if you permit....i will be avilable on 19-20...i enjoy audio hunts...:licklips:

I was thinking this combo-
tsi100-front
cs10-central
owm3-surround
psw110/psw10-sub
Denon 1713

is it worth to go for 2113 with 10k extra?

Don't want to go with more powerful avr..cause from online demos what I can see that polk sub may break my window..

Denon 2313 may be justified if you have a large(ish) room. Otherwise 1713 may suffice for rooms up to 15x12.

The power handling capacity of AVR should be at least 1.1~1.25 times the channel driven. So, if speaker is rated 80W RMS, the amp should be 100W.

best is demo....
profx do have 1713,1513 and 2113all for deom and tsi and rti also..
kef also..(expensive hehe)..but if you hear kef..chances are less you will buy something else...

yes 1713 and the set up is completly satisfying...it is not that..they are worst than 2113 and rti....

my point is as this being a one time investment...its better to invest on better models..sacrificing not buying all speakers at a shot...now that how i think...may differ with others...
