h'theatre @ 25-30k INR- need help

Hi, im planing 2 buy onkyo 3300.but i have got a compaq presario laptop which doesn't have HDMI out.so, is there any alternative way of connection by which the audio quality won't suffer?i checked onkyo 5205, they said it has kinda similar audio quality as tht of onkyo 3300.but dint like d woofer much-not dat great.i have an artis 2.1- insane base,though d speakers r bad!!
by the way, im into hard core metal.so, my priorities are strong n powerful base, no distortion@ high volume n clarity of each n every individual sound effect...can u plz suggest any h'theatre system or compilation of diff staffs within 25k, max 30k INR.
i stay@ Pune.

Why dont you consider buying an external audio card for your laptop and then connect to onkyo 3300?

The sound card will give you optical output that you can connect with Onkyo 3300. Optical output is as good as HDMI

You may also consider philips home theatre which comes with same price budget and attractive floorstanders however onkyo 3300 avr is future proof

Hi guys, i checked denon 390@e zone@ pune.i dont know weather their settings were not good or what, but the sound was getting distorted@ high frequency/ high volume.otherwise, the base is huge, active woofer.but d surround sound from the book shelf speakers- not good, i mean not much clarity for movies!!
wot do u think, denon 390 isnt good enough or its due to bad settings from their side??
dude, i serious need to buy a h'theatre n my budget is around 30k max.plz suggest.
i am new to this forum n dont have much knowledge about the HT.plz help.any suggestion is w/c...cheers :)

Audition Onkyo 3300, you will like it. Its good for movies

2de i bought ma HT- harman/ kardon AVR 133 + JBL scs 200.5 speakrs...trusmme, u wont get a better deal@29k wid free headphone 4m JBL, ep2rccable, installation n free home delivery...
i hav a 12 x 10 rum- cant stop maslf 4m telln u all dat its worth buyn JBL.i hav seen demo of onkyo 3300, denon s390, yamaha yht 292, 392, jamo.if ny1s into rock/ metal, i mean who wants d system 4 base basically, den go 4 it.
u get d demo@pune @ d sound factor@ east street...they hav lots of options in HTs.n if u go ther dont 4get 2 get d t-box xperience- dey said its d 1st time in India, i dunno kno.but awesome, i havnt xperienced sumthng like dis eva...
so, onkyo :(:sad::eek::eek:

Now u can have a decent external drive and start collectin movies and songs. Any plans for a bigger display?

Hi,

ONKYO Amps are really good but I am not much impressed with ONKYO home theater speakers. It produces more terrible and woofer also not that good.

If you can stretch your budget to 10 k more
Get ONKYO amp seperately (may cost you 12k to 20k depends on model) and you can get either Paradigm entry level speakers or Whardafle entry level seakers cost you arnd 22k to 28k.

They are for much better than ONKYO speakers.

As per connection For audio you have to purchase external Audio card which has digital audio output. And connect to the AUX in in the amplifier. I have purchased SIIG internal audio card with digital audio out for my desktop PC (costs Rs.1600 only got it from US , not available in india) and connected to my AMP. It works perfect.

Creative has this card and available in india but its expensive...Rs 4000 or more.

hey :cool::cool:, i listn 2 chimaira, in flames, bodom, slayer, coal chamber, disturbed, godsmack, static x, slipknot, dry kill logic n a lot of indian stuffs like joint family, pdv, medusa, demonic resurrection n many more...but ma 1st roc' influence bein maiden n manson is ma musical god...ru in2 meatl by ny wez??
i hav a huuuuuuuuge collectn- ol original cds n dvds...i used2 play drums as well- but not any more, profession u knw!!! :sad:

The bands that you mentioned are pretty mainstream. Just walk into a planet M and you'll find all of them.
