HTPC - Can they be used to record Tatasky

I have tatasky+ and was wondering if the HTPC could offer recording and live pause of channels in a better interface than the tatasky.

Moreover when the Tatasky HD+ is out if we route all output to the HTPC wouldn't the video quality suffer as HDMI sources cannot be recorded. Is ther any alternative or bypass where we can record Tatasky HD channels coming out from HDMI directly to HTPC in Digital format i.e. HDMI IN Connection in the HTPC.

Can a TV tuner card record multiple channels simultaneously like a DVR?

Not shure,my old card can a single ch at a time.
