i intend to build a htpc

Have:
Sony Bravia KLV-32S550A
Altec Lansing MX5021
Gigabyte G31-S2L
intel dual core 5300
Corsair 2 x 2GB RAM
Corsair vx450 psu

Planning:
Sapphire 5670 512MB
Silerstone case

query:
I dont have a AVR in picture here. The graphics card will stream out video and audio through the HDMI to the LCD. My speakers are connected to the Headphone out socket in the LCD. Will this result in audio quality degradation?

The sound that you will get out of this combo will, in all likelihood, not be satisfying.

Hi,
Don't go for the silverstone case, you maynot be able to fit your PSU in that and by default it can support 300W PSU.
Its better if you go for a different case like Antech or Cooler master and add a sound card to you system preferably. Xonar, or Azuntech. and connect your speakers to that instead.
Get a good 5.1 setup I am still looking a good 5.1 speakers myself so can't help you out with that.
But depending on your budget you can get samsung or philips 5.1 speakers that can cost you around 6-15K depending on your choice.

Which model are you talking about? I use a Silverstone GD04B with Corsair VX450 PSU.

A dvb-s card will work, but it will not show you the channels that are encrypted (i.e hbo). You will get to see shopping channels, religious channels, and maybe a few others though. It also depends on which satellite you are trying to get channels from. Most likely, you will be wanting much more than you can get. Why spend the $$ on the hardware when you can just sign up for Dish or Direct for free and use the money you;d spend for the dvb-s to pay for programming.
