I have an interesting set of requirements for this device:

A/V:
- HDMI audio & video
- Wireless keyboard and mouse

Computing:
- Wireless LAN connectivity to read from a shared drive
- Browsing
- Good-to-have : Powerpoint sharing

Mobility:
- 3G connectivity
- Some display capability when travelling

I know HTPCs will meet the Computing and A/V requirements but not mobility. Tablets (AFAIK) are Ok in Computing but not too good in A/V but score big in Mobility.

Do you know of any devices that can meet these requirements today or in the next 3/4 months? I guess Tablets certainly have an edge but .... let me know.

Notion inks Adam or some laptop with a good GPU. When you say 3g do u wanna use it as mobile phone too?

My first question would be how much budget do you have, and out of the needs listed, how would arrange them in order of prority. if you are on a low budget, i would recommend a zotac ION atom based Mini ITX motherboard. Its got enough fire power for bluray playback and onboard wifi.
Yes i admit that it wont have the mobility, but out of your needs, it will suffice most of your needs. as far as 3g and display capability are concerned, get your self a galaxy s, if your budget does not permit, get a samsung galaxy 3.
Have Gmote running on you zotac ion and android phone, and you get yourselves a wireless keyboard and touchpad. Pretty awesome IMO. My friends were like WOW!!!
And there is XBMC too. It also has a remote app for android. you can control XBMC running on you zotac ion from your phone..How cool is that!!
never been a fan of Laptops, i have seen too many Hardware failures with laptops to justify the money people pay.
