Hi,

My ordeal with samsung plasma PS42A4501MXL which i bought in April 2009 has just came to an end. You can read all about it here, samsung has finally refunded the full amount of the tv set.

Now that i am left with no tv and have to use the 22'' LG lcd monitor for viewing tv I am in the market for 42-50'' sets.

1) I would like to go for 50'' sets as they are now available at 50k.
2) No SAMSUNG, obviously!
3) very much interested in Panasonic-VIERA TH-P50X20D
4) usage 50% Airtel DTH, 50% xvid dvdrip dvd scr, planing to buy playstation 3
5) Budget is 60k, can go a little over that but not too much

After my tragic experience with Samsung one thing is very clear to me that Plasma technology is not durable. Definitely not as durable as CRT. Hence I think the 3 year warranty is a must. And that is why I like Panasonic.

Please share your thoughts and help me make the decision. Also if you recently bought panasonic plasmas please quote the price.

panasonic went a step backward with 50X20.
last years 50" X10 had a resolution of 1365x768..
but its only 1024x768 in 50"X20:mad:
for 60K budget, LG PK550 should be good a good choice..:)

pana 50X20 also suffers from huge "panel reflection" problem......i tested it recently with minimum lighting, low light produced less reflection and PQ improved a lot.

you should do the same, and see fou urself before deciding to buy

Is it possible to buy extended warranty on LG. I am willing to pay extra (well not too much). I think panasonic is the only brand that give 3 years warranty on plasmas. Do you know of any other brand that gives 3 years warranty on plasma in India?

hello...pls confirm whether its a 03 yr comprehensive (panel and curcuit) warranty...as there's utter confusion...I own a pana 42x20d...am myself not very sure about the same...as per some 03 yr is only on panel and 01 yr std. on curcuitry !!

Well, panel is what costs more. The panel replacement/repair will cost atleast 60% of the total price.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
