Although nothing ideal exists in any field, I was just wondering if we can assemble list of movies, video files, games, animation titles to test when taking demo of a plazma TV. This will help prospective buyers a lot for making an informed decision. Specially, since retailers are likely to play channels/movies which may look good on any TV (LCD/LED/Plazma).

We can categorise it according to SD Vs HD (or resolution wise for pure videophiles) and also for 2D, 3D, Gaming titles, etc. So not only can we take such material with us while demoing, some of us may be having some friends/neighbours with the models we have shortlisted so we can have an 'extended' demo session and decide !

I am not sure if similar thread exists. If not and this discussion is deemed useful by Admin, this thread can be STICKED and also corresponding ones for AUDIO and LCD/LED can be started :)

To start, I think AVATAR is excellent candidate for both 2D and 3D, also because it has been shot with FULL HD cameras if I am correct.

Regards.

The Dark Knight blue ray for testing black levels, lots of dark scenes

BBC Documentary named Planet Earth for Colors.

A believe that the TV should be fed with the worst source possible and checked on how good/bad it appears on the panel. This can be a crappy SD news channel (news channels have some of the worst PQ with extremely high compression).

Once the above "gate pass" is achieved, then go for hi-def testing as haisaikat suggested.

Demo should never be based on cartoon or animated material as the colour saturation and overall presentation will not be real and will never short fall for any display.
Demo should be judged by normal contents
