Dear Members,

I am getting a Polk Audio TL1600 home theatre and since I am installing it in our new house, I wanted your suggestions on the best placement for the subwoofer since we are in process of designing the tv units?

Option 1 : at one side of the hall where nothing is on 3 sides (left, right and above) and only wall is on rear

Option 2: at the centre of the wall a where left and right are with the cabinets and platform is above (basically imagine the sub inside a cabinet which is only open on the front side

Option 3 : in the corner of the hall where wall is on rear and right side, cabinet is on left side and platform is above

Basically is the sub in ideal location when in open area or more enclosed?

Note : I believe this sub is down firing

Thanking you in anticipation

Generally corner is recommended, to excite corner modes, but some trial and error is definitely suggested to get the best location. My suggestion is better an area with three walls, then two walls, than totally in the open. Try a few locations and see what works best.

You can try crawl method for subwoofer placement. Keep the subwoofer where you will be sitting. Then hear throughout your room where the bass is good enough Upto your liking. Then wherever you find the bass best. You can place your subwoofer there. Since yours is a downfiring sub. I dont think it will need a corner. However placing it in the corner is gereally ideal placement

Thank you very much for your inputs..will hopefully to incorporate the woofer into the corner if the design of the home theatre unit permits.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
