Hello friends,

Have been using Shure M 44-7 on Technics 1200 MK II since past one and half year. I am quite happy with it as my listening bandwidth cover Hindi genre (especially R.D.Burman) only. My record collection cover 98% mint and near mint LPs and EPs so skipping had never been an issue.

However the upgrade bug hits me and I procured Shure M 97Xe from New York at very low price (3,686 INR).

Am not very technical and open to plug and play options with basic experimentation only. Would appreciate if you guys help me out installing Shure M97 Xe on Technics headshell with pointer to any literature or youtube videos. Would also like to mention I'm a bass lover but slowly been addicted to natural sound with NO colour. So this could be my foray into audiophile league.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Technics is teamed up with Sonodyne Uranus (with EQ) and routed through a ICON passive sub and Sonodyne bookselves as satelites. Hope this would suffice.

Hello Saurav,

First of all, you should not write that you 'bought' this cartridge...you actually 'STOLE' it at that price!:D Congrats!!

These might help:

How to fit the cartridge( needle / stylus) to the head shell - YouTube

Should you have more confusions setting it up, update this thread or drop a PM. I probably have a pdf for the procedure on my laptop which is not here with me at the moment. That will make life easier for you.

BTW, do not forget to post your experience of 97Xe. Would love to hear a feedback, esp from someone who has shifted from M44-7.

Regards,
Saket

Thank you so much Saket for your reply. Will revert with further questions. Will definitely post with my observation and listening experience with both the cartidges. Even if I thought of keeping same song ripped with both M-44-7 and m97 Xe, balance set up will remain same.
