Hi ,
I just bought RTI A7 and need to select some good stereo integrated amp. A bit confused on Yamaha /Marantz or NAD. I did like to get some good bass from the amp and of course not compromising on the clarity. I typically listen to Pop, Soft Rock and at times Indian Classical. NO movies at all. I have a small/mid sized room of 19x10. So i guess not much power full amp will be required. I listen at max 80db of sound(not more than volume of 45 on Denon AVR x500 in stereo mode).
Also, will an amp like yamah RS602/RS500Bl or Marantz PM6005 suffice?

Thanks,
AG

Get an Arcam or a Yamaha. Polk RTiA7 has a forward midrange and bright sounding highs. Both the amps will tame them. The bass is pretty over powering too that drowns the other frequencies if not placed 3 feet from the rear wall. Don't get a NAD if you want warmth with the Polks , NAD makes Polk sound blunt in the lower octaves.

Hi ALL,
Thanks!!
Any other suggestion than NAD? Better if i can get audition in Pune or Mumbai.

I have the energy CF-70 speakers and I recently got the Marantz PM 6006 at an excellent price....both work very well together

check the specs of the energy CF-70 and if the polks are similar then the marantz is a great choice. I am enjoying my speakers much more now than I did when I used them with an Onkyo AV receiver along with a subwoofer.

Mate, Marantz PM7xxx or PM8xxx series might control the Polks well as they are relatively high power amps. A Marantz PM8003 is on sale right now on the forum. You might want to check it out. Cheers.

My options for you would be -- Budget Solutions :p

1. Yamaha RN-602 (If you are interested in Network Receiver)
105W at 8 ohms

2. Marantz PM-8005 (Great soul)
But low on power - 70W at 8 ohms

3. Cambridge Audio CXA-60 (Impressive Build)
60W at 8 ohms -

If looking for power then go with Yamaha !!!
Else Cambridge/Marantz !!!

Hi ALL,
I have a very basic question, any amplifier, if I use oscilloscope and confirm the signal is not clipping at the volumes to which i listen, then that amplifier power is good enough to drive my speakers?

Also consider the amps available in hi-fi adds. You may be lucky ending up with great amp with allotted money.

Hello Amit_G,

A7s are rated 300 watts at 8 ohms. In my view, you should be looking at atleast 150 watts to drive them sufficiently good. I have the same speakers in my HT and are driven by Emotiva power amp pumping 125 watts and they perform very well. I know with more power, they will shine further even if they play below reference levels.

Just thought of sharing my views.

Thanks & regards,

Amit
