ion turntable

I feel the TT manufacturers who give LP to digital conversion are meant to kill vinyl playback. These are one of them.

i believe it is marketed only in usa and uk and cant be shipped

Good! We already have lots of crap here:D

Reasons best summed by Reuben. To defy gravity, it will have to use very high tracking weight which will soon ruin your records and the stylus will self-destruct itself soon too. The anti-skate will never be correct and will soon destroy the outer grooves of the records too.

If you want a cool thing to show to your guests, then it is fine but not good for even some casual listening, leave alone serious sessions.

Most ion stuff is junk, period. I bought one while in the US for 10 months, it gave up in around 3.

is the lack of gravity such a big deal? even in a horizontal TT, the tonearm is balanced by the counterweight, and the only vertical force is the VTF right? If the same VTF (HTF in this case?) is applied, shouldnt it be enough and perfectly fine?

The bigger problem would be that gravity would wreak havoc with the anti skate. The only Hi Fi vertical TT's have seen have used Linear tracking to take care of that

Theoritically, yes but in practice there are dependencies like type of grooves, type of stylus, groove condition, stylus condition and more importantly, off-centre holes and record warping.

Even if the anti-skate and VTF problem would be solved I'd never buy a 'wall-hanging' TT. I'd be shit scared of what the lizards would do to the TT :p

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
