Hi! guys came to know from some source that videocon is taking over Panasonic in India from April. I'm not sure about it so just thought to confirm with you guys. All I know is that videocon has taken Electrolux and Philips. So wonder if it could acquire such big brand like Panasonic as well.

Your friend must be talking about distribution and service support in India. Videocon does not have the money to buy out Panasonic worldwide.

Cheers

I clearly mentioned Panasonic in India, not worldwide!! Also, I am not sure if its distribution or production or what, so thats why put up here to confirm with others if they've any idea about the same.

Its similar like the 4wheelers market
Videocon would have acquired rights to sell the panasonic products in india in which the products will be renamed as Videocon

Philips in India had Consumer Electronics, Lighting, Industrial products and Medical Equipments as SBUs (Sub Business Units). Out of these one part of consumer electronics i.e. color TV business only has been hived off by Philips to Videocon for five years.
Same way, Videocon sells Sensui, Electrolux, Kenstar, Akai (not sure) Toshiba etc.

I own a 100hz 29" philips crt for 6 yrs now. few days back it started giving problem. I called up the philips technician but ended up with videocon one.
he raised his hands for this philips model. asking to take the set to service center for repairing but not giving much hope. as per him videocon technicians are not very trained and keen to repair philips sets.

I just bought panny 50" plasma.:(

Lawl Videocon is always in news for taking over companies, next you might hear Videocon taking over Samsung and Sony together.:ohyeah:

Can you elaborate on your source, this particular takeover is not mentioned anywhere in the entire WWW .....

the only major investment videocon made, was the purchase of the CRT division of Thomson. I have an electrolux microwave, that is also contract-manufactured by VCon
