Isopropyl Alcohol in Bangalore

Can someone guide me where in Bangalore this is available...tried in multiple medical shops/hospital pharmacies with no success...all they have is surgical spirit.

You can try Avenue Road...some shops in SP Road may also have...ask for IPA.

If you are in the whitefield area, let me know, there is a place near Mahadevapura...

Instead of pharmacies or medical stores, ask in any scientific store, the kind that supplies chemicals to school labs.

There is a lane going inside from the main road opposite Decathlon and the Electricity office (not the Garudacharpalya road but after that)...in that lane there is a shop that sells industrial chem and dyes...he stocks IPA...

Check for your nearest Apollo pharmacy, they stock IPA.

Surgical spirit sometimes has additives.

You'll need to be careful...especially if you are using it for cleaning records...

I too curious about blue color, the IPA I use is transparent.

Maybe nice for cleaning "Blues" records..

Its not.70% do not need a licence to keep.Its transparent.If more than 90% it come with blue color and need a licence to keep.

you can get it in avenue road, i don't remember the shop's name. You should enter Avenue road from Mysore bank circle, its a one way you should walk. Its within the first 10 shops on the left. they sell scientific apparatus and pharma related chemicals

Surgical spirit is not isopropyl alcohol. They are two different things. IPA is safe and does not melt things. It is absolutely clear and is available in scientific stores. The famous one being Vasa Scientific Co. These days they need a letter from the company authorizing purchase of IPA or Acetone. They refused to sell me.

Be careful in not buying other chemicals being peddled off as IPA in SP Road etc and can melt your plastic and vinyl stuff.

Strange it is so hard to get in Bangalore.
There's plenty on shop window shelves in Chennai's Ritchie street. Pretty cheap too. Usually labelled as IPA in a PVC bottle. Most seem to stock material from one supplier I think. Most labels look identical.
Alternatively you can get it on Nyniappa Naicken street near Rattan Bazzar. That is the place for Industrial chemicals and I think you can buy most solvents you want without any 'official letter'.
Funny that when I was in school I used to buy explosives 1/2 kg at a time ( potassium nitrate, Potassium chlorate, sulphur etc ) there without any problems ! No body batted an eyelid ! Now I'm much older and I can't buy it over the counter ! Times HAVE changed....Ha...Ha....!
