JJ Cale no more

this is sad news!

he is an all time great.

for me personally my "Cale - greatest hits is one of my favourite CDs."and most played in the car, where it was an great stressbuster for rush hour traffic.

thank you for the music, Mr. Cale!

Very sad.

It has been a while since I listened to JJ Cale but I remember how much Clapton and Knopfler sounded like JJ Cale. He laid the foundation for that entire music style.

Don't cry sister cry.... RIP JJC... you shall forever be the greatest troubadour of white blues....

My first post in a year.... but needed to be done!

R.I.P..... there are so may memories attached to your laid back music....you will be missed! :(

"JJs the one who played all that s--- first... And he doesnt play very loud, either I really like that about him. Hes so sensitive. Of all the players I ever heard, its gotta be Hendrix and JJ Cale who are the best electric guitar players. JJs my peer, but he doesnt have the business acumen he doesnt have the idea of how to deal with the rest of the world that I do. But musically, hes actually more than my peer, because hes got that thing. I dont know what it is." -Neil Young

Many, many moons ago I bought a cassette recording of "Okie" from the Tibetan market in Manali. It was my introduction to the music of JJ Cale.

'JJ Cale sang as though he was having a relaxed after-hours chat with a friendly bartender' - The Guardian

JJ Cale has always been absolutely quintessential to my music listening. I have used 'After Midnight' as a benchmark track to measure the bass handling and resolving capabilities of many speakers and amplifier combinations that I auditioned.

Cale's music has always instilled a soothing and calming feeling in my mind. His tracks exude an effortless and laid back groove. When the first time I got to know that many of Clapton's hits were actually original compositions of J J Cale, I was like he is the man.

A couple of months ago, I found a mint condition Troubadour LP and I feel every so fortunate now. Sitting in office, writing this post, makes me want to get back home and spin in RIGHT NOW.

I wish this news were all 'Lies Lies Lies' !!

So long Mr. Cajun Moon. RIP

His music exemplified how influential your music can be with solid content and no flashiness.Listening to a Cale original rendition of the same song after a flashier Clapton or numerous other versions makes you realize how musical his singing and melodic guitar playing was.
RIP JJ.
