After a long long hunt of 2 yrs (last 1 month serious search), i booked LG 42PA4520 plasma for 38K ( with 2 yr extnd store warranty) from Reliance Digital.
Got delivered on same day(yesterday), but waiting for its installation scheduled tomorrow.
I had a dream of owning very good plasma (high end panasonic VT) which will not come below 1 lakhs..:) but wanted to kill background thread running in my mind for last 2 yrs. It all started after purchasing Onkyo HTS 3300, and some how adjusted meanwhile with my laptop. Now, i thought it's high time i should purchase one, and from "just4kix" experience of waiting for offers, just went for it.
AFAIK, this is lowest priced, branded, reliable semi hd plasma, and which to my eyes looked similar to 43e490, and also it has an edge on SD channel viewing for my parents, and i had no other option.

I have 3 yr warranty including 1yr manufacturer warranty, that brings lot of relief. Reliance says warranty covers "pin to panel", but not written anywhere on their resQ card

I will post the pictures of this, both HD and SD soon.

I really thank you guys for your support in sharing your experiences, clearing members doubts, providing solutions, and above all it's moral support. I always rely on this forum to find the solution.

...Still i have a dream of owning best PLASMA with best Home Theater setup with dedicated room. Hope it comes true some day..:licklips:

Congrats on your purchase.

A semi-hd is preferable over full hd because the former consumer lesser power than the latter. And that is preferable in these days of high power bills and if you run your plasma for extended periods of time, as you are expected to with a plasma.

There AFAIK is not the lowest priced plasma. There is a lower priced plasma from Sammy which is not even HD ready and is only 480p. Do not know if they discontinued it yet, but that was only 32K and pretty rubbish because externally looked very similar to 43e470/490.

Congratulations on your purchase!
The definition of "best plasma" keeps changing every year and is an elusive one!
Buying a tv which appears pleasing to our eyes(at that instant) and within our budget is the best thing to do.

hey, how did u find reflection on screen as compared to sammy, people say samsung one is a mirror sort of thing.
how is LG in that front...

Congrats! Plasma gives more edge for SD than LEDs due to phosphorus element like CRTs.
I am having EDTV (480p) Sony Plasma (yes it's plasma, not LCD) for few years and I haven't seen beautiful SD picture generated on any other flat panel due to near match resoultion and its double coated anti-glare glass.

Of Course HD signals looks simply mindblowing, but it shortfalls FHD resolution although it accepts 1080i. But at a distance of >7feet it 's not at all noticable. I am sure with 720P, you can enjoy both SD for cable & HD for movies.

Congratulations. Please do post pictures and detailed review. Thanks.

Guys, sorry for the delay in posting pics, as i did not have time during working days.

you can find few pics uploaded here. I just realized that i need to buy new cam now :), pics are not great (camera fault).
I have run overnights of slides to cover almost 40hrs now.

I see comments that even after taking care for 200hrs, people are running through issues. So i am thinking that after 100 or so hrs, i will increase contrast and brightness from 35 to somewhere around 55 and watch movies. At current settings, movies are dull. no life in them and i don't feel like watching them :-(

To me, as you said, samsung e490 looked more glossy than my current LG.
Even this set is also reflective, but that is not a problem for me as i have darker ambience.
