I am not very good at writing reviews but I'll try to sum it up.

I saw the film today and it is one of the few hindi films that I recommend all to see. Very beautifully filmed and with a good involving story that holds you to the film from the first shot to the last. Not a single frame should be missed.

Vidya Balan's acting is better than all her other films. :clapping:

The plot is intriguing and the story has a very smooth flow to it and quite a few surprises.

excellent reviews all over and ofcourse with Vidya acting, it should be a peach of a movie..

I liked it a lot. Saw it yesterday.
It is more enjoyable for a Bengali as I found there were no subtitles for Bengali words that were used quite often.
I have liked use of camera, timing of jerks. Editing is top class too!

The first song says a lot about Kolkata as it is now. Vidya (not Bidya) is like rain drops on a Lotus petal, shining, fluid, sparkling sunshine.

I think director had conceived the cinema from sperm to a baby all the way. Qudos to him.

I watched the movie day before, and I liked it. Liked the way it was shot and the intrigue level was good, keeping you hooked till the end. The plot however was less convincing towards the end. imho. But overall, I enjoyed the movie. What I really found to be a positive change is how all were referring to it as Vidya Balans new movie. It is nice to see that actresses/female actors( whatever is politically correct) are making some headway in the male dominated film industry and for the right reasons( read as not for gyrating in 'item' songs). The audience applauded when Vidya came on screen! A good performance from the actors, director, cameramen, editing team etc.

I don't watch Bollywood, but the buzz around this movie has got me really interested!

I think we should search and watch good movies irrespective of the industry it is made in.

Bollywood, IMO has made and making some good movies with different aspiration and aim. And they are quite successful in that.
Kahaani is one of them.

In searching, friends from different religion can of great help and HFV in that sense can be a good source of information.

A suspence thriller in recent Bengali arena has good story, photography, editing, pull and tension. "Baishe Shrabon".

I liked "Memories in March" a lot. Songs are worth listening separately too!

I watched the movie yesterday. Yes, being a Bengali, it helped as there are many dialogues in Bengali and almost the entire movie is centered around (& shot in) Kolkata.
But the real attraction of the movie was the way it was presented. No unnecessary song and dance, no cheap jokes/ dialogues and it still did not appear like a documentary or even an art film. I would say the storyline was quite good, but the presentation was even better. As expected, Vidya Balan was exceptionally good, but the other supporting characters also did very good. Even with such a tight and intriguing plot, the way relations (like the one between Vidya and the hotel-boy Vishnu) and emotions were depicted it was really master-class. I think the credit must go the director for making such a neat and interesting movie. As someone already mentioned the photography/ editing was top-class some of the scenes shot in the crowded lanes of the city and the last few scenes shot during the Durga Puja (Vijaya Dashami night) were amazing.

...I liked it too.

Guess what, I very rarely watch Hindi movies, but this one got me interested, and I was not disappointed for sure!
3 idiots was the last Hindi movie I watched.

I saw the movie today. It is a good watch for someone who doesnt prefer the regular Bollywood Fiasco ( apologies to all the Bollywood fans).

I feel the reason for all the good reviews is more because it is a movie where people can relate too and has a sense of realism. I am not undermining the acting or direction or any other aspect of the movie, but any down to earth, sensible , realistic movie these days is looked at as a master piece in Bollywood. Hence I have my reservations.

Although , overall definitely a good watch.

Very nice movie, saw it yesterday at INOX. I echo Titus's (iaudio) views on this.

Lol Manav, favourite characters are Bob and Mr.Khan.

yes, i saw kahani and loved the way the climax, vivid potrayal of kolkatta, backdrop of durga puja, slow and steady upping of story and vidya's neat, natural acting. worth seeing!

recently saw the director's interview, in which he says most of the shooting was done live, not in sets. maybe this contributed to the lifelike feel of the movie. loved the suspense :D

I don't watch Bollywood, but the buzz around this movie has got me really interested!

Even I don't, excepting Aamir Khan's ... uptil now.
But of late, quite a few off-track movies did catch my attention, more due to heresay initially, Kahaani being one. My wife watched it thrice in the cinema halls (there ... flew my 1500 bucks ). But, she was considerate enough to buy a DVD for me ... thats better .... watched it on my HT (after a looong time) liked it so much, that I ended up watching it thrice too, the last 2 instances with my neighbours and friends ... kind of ... to show off my surround sound set-up :). Becoming a 'specific' Northie day by day .
