I am Having 46" Hd ready Samsung TV. with a sony DAV-FZ900KW (Karaoke Home Theater 5.1)
but since my dad + uncles weren't satisfied with the 'Quality' that they required in karaoke,We bought and connected a cheap + Ugly  (almost Chinese) 2 way Floor standing Speakers (Just For The Loudness Of Sound)
Now my dad all of a sudden wants to discard those Chinese speakers and invest in good karaoke + Home Theater system, a piece hardware which has more more volume in it for our Magic Sing-Karaoke nights and which also looks in our living room, effortlessly connecting with our TV for home theater setup

Can i have a suggestion Please for a setup (TV excluded). though we don't have budget outlined, i am sure he wont fork out more than 100k :p
so i would welcome suggestions between 50-80k :)

am From Kolkata By The way... a referral place to go to would also be nice

Thanks in advance

Hi

Usually Brands like Philips / Sony / LG in their models of HTiB (Home Theatre in a Box) have the Karaoke facility. These are not TRUE home theatre systems to provide the real Dolby DTS experience one would expect and the output ofcouse is not all that great...once you crank up the volume to more than 50%...the sound quality drops and tends to become unpleasant for the ears....

In principal there is no Karaoke facility on an AVR and hence you would need to connect a Karaoke unit via USB or HDMI to an AVR to avail the benefit...see the below post on the same.

A simple google search would help you to select the right Karaoke system which can be hooked up to a decent AV system. HiFiMart has a lot of Home Theatre systems available and a decent one (excluding Karaoke system) would cost you atleast 35-40k (excluding speaker wires and cables).

It now all depends on the room size, the kind of speakers you would want (Bookshelf / Satellites/Towers) etc. There are brands like Yamaha / Pioneer / Harmon Kardon / Denon / Marantz who make decent AVRs and Speakers like KEF/Jamo/PSB Image/Bostons/Cambridge Audio etc....all depends on your budget and what appeals to you....

A word of advice...there are lot of Home theatre dealers around...you need to go listen and shortlist some AVRs before making any purchases....read reviews on performance of these systems and see video performances uploaded by users across the world....you will definitely get a good direction in selecting the appropriate one..

I am a happy user of Marantz NR series and Boston speakers...you can click on my profile name to read my posts on the same...also you can read other discussion threads on Home Theatre available...

Hope this helps.
