Hi FMs,

I just got myself a DOA Kenwood KX-51.

Well not actually dead. Just the belts were kaput.

I took on the herculean task with some gusto but...

Thing is, After putting belts, I can't figure out how to prime and adjust the mechanism, it's a solenoid driven one.

There is no service manual available.

Some are there but asking price is steep.

Can the good fellows of our forum be the savior of a stuck soul ?

The transport is solenoid operated.

When I press FF or RW, it engages but then can't disengage.

The problem is aligning them gears and the fly wheel.

As there is no manual available, I'm stuck.

A few pics are attached for reference.

I would be interested in what size belts you purchased to fix yours because the belts in my kx51 deck need replacing and the originals are no longer available. I have the service manual and can send some page images if you still need them.

I took out the belts by cutting them and went to local store who still stocks belts and stuff. He measured the older belts with new belts and they fitted just fine.

The problem was in the alignment of the gears in transport. Do share the service manual if possible, I may be able to resurrect the dead deck.

Appreciate your help.
