It was a long break after my last review.

This time the witch hunt was to find the best led TV within 50 inch. I was new to Dubai when I started the process and it took almost 1.5 month to find the Thor in overcrowded market.

Here goes LG 47LB6520..

I was fed up with the boosted colours and eye straining brightness of Sonys and Samsungs yet I decided to be fair when choosing the best :ohyeah:. I compared the following parameters:

Display Quality
Interface
Media playing capability
Quality
Connectivity
Smart features
3D

The OS or WEBOS:

A fresh approach, rather more simple & indulging.. browsing within TV was never so easy with other brands.. what a brilliant interface !! though it has slight lag during start up, once its on, everything else is history. its fluid, very responsive and looks gorgeous. The app store & web browser are bit laid down with limited/no good apps.

Connectivity:

This TV comes with all majority features including NFC, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, 3 HDMI outputs, camera & gesture support etc, so options are plenty. The Wi-Fi direct enables you to play the content wirelessly even if you dont have internet. Magic eye remote works like charm with amazing response.
Nevertheless, it plays 40 GB files from my 2TB Hard Disk in no time.

Display:

Indeed.. this was one among the best display Ive ever seen in 47 size.. The IPS panel is simply jaw dropping. The skin tones, color reproduction and accuracy, brightness etc are marvellous. With 600 HZ refresh rate, you will forget that you are watching movie at your home. The brightness, contrast and backlit are just appropriate that it will never give you any eyestrain even after watching for 6+ hours. I cant find a better word to describe the quality of the panel except Outstanding. Samsung, Sonys etc are full of oversaturated colors with boosted brightness. The only problem I faced with this panel was the black level which can be tamed if you tune it manually. The 3d is so realistic than its competitor, but you will find some horizontal lines if you get old glass with your tv.

Technical Features:

Display: 47 IPS panel
Refresh Rate: 600 HZ
Connectivity
HDMI Port 3
Optical/Coax: Yes
Inbuilt Camera: No

I dint find any reason not to own this beast, so I did and now enjoying every bit of it. It was a visual treat for INR 53K, worth trying.

Hello bro i also live UAE sharjah I am in a hunt to buy a new 3D + Smart led tv and my first choice is LG has here in UAE LG led tvs are very common and avialable very where. But reading some review in this forum about lg makes me to think about lg led tvs. Has I found a 42 inch same version you mentioned but its a 42 inch and model no is 42LB6520. But few things I wanna is

1. Does this model of lg tv have very good PQ to watch HD channels of dish tv on this tv.
2. Does this tv support MKV file format directly played from a USD attached to tv.
3. Has this tv is a DVB t support so can we watch free to air SD+HD channels from ninilesat and hotbird etc.

Has I am getting this tv for 2350 dhs (40k Indian rupee's) in Sharjah industrial area 10 near sharjah cricket stadium the famous electronic area.

Waiting for your reply.

HD LOVER,

PQ is amazing, it supports all goddamn files. Dvb, i dont use. Instead i use apps like yupp tv to watch free channels. Try Panasonic also, i heard its worth for every penny. I tried and got sick of sony samsung etc. You are welcome for a demo at my home, i stay in al- nadha dubai.

Have you checked the Gitex offers in dubai trade centre some stall offer's their really made me confused bcuz their is a gitex offer sale for Sony W800b 42 inch passive 3d + smart tv for 2100 dhs (around 35,000 indian rupees) with free 5.1 Sony home theater system and they are also offering a Sony 40w600 40 inch smart but not a 3d tv for 1700 dhs (around 28,000 Indian rupees) with free beats solo head phone. But after reading your review and seeing side by side demo of lg lb6520 and Sony w800b I am going for hands down winner in best pq and 3d lg 42lb6520. I was confused by reading comments on forums that Sony has better pq compared to lg no way has I had checked both tvs side by side but only difference was Sony w800b's picture was a little more sharper but contrast and color was looking more like artificial fake colors or u can say over saurated colors on Sony w800b but on the other side LG'S lb6520 design absolutely steals it away plus the pq is more like realistic and accurate colors not like fake artificial colors on sony w800 may be lg is using a special kind of a screen which is producing accurate and true colors and specially 3d demo on lg is just a game changer and takes it all away from Sony w800b. Any how m getting a lg 42 inch lb6530 in gitex and thanks for the demo invitation bro but I had already seen enough demo's of many tv from Samsung, Sony, lg and Toshiba but the problem about Panasonic is that their is no Panasonic brand led tvs in malls or electronic markets here in uae can you name some dealers who sell Panasonic led tvs here in uae so that I would check Panasonic once before going for lg :D

HD Lover,

I knew that you will end up in LG like i did (not because of my review, but PQ of TV). Panasonic showroom is opp to Al ghurair center, Deira. There is an offer going on in plug ins for Klipsch RF-2 Ref series for 1700. I demoed and its damn worth for the money. You can check out. You should get your tv for 2300 or less.. Gitex is just an eyewash with exaggerated prices (try in Lulu). Best Wishes !

Pran.

I am not sure if LB6520 is same as Lb6500 but I own the LB6500 and can tell you that the LB6500 tends to have weaker blacks. Please make sure you buy a model with Local Dimming.

have gone through all reviews across the web

cnet

rtings

hifivision reviews etc

And also gone for a direct viewing of those TVs in all Multi Brand Show Rooms. And finally I decided and bought LG LB 652T from Dubai

First of all, I would say broadcasting technology is not available to provide the beautiful and sharp content

Second, the current HD led tvs are not so intelligent to provide sharp and beautiful pictures. Its going to be Broadcasting content or any media content combined with OLED kind of technology needs to get matured, to provide good viewing experience.

LB 652T Reviews: - based on playing/view an HD content only

Pros:

- True colors to some extent

- Felt very satisfied with 42 inch size of picture delivery(, being its first led tv view from 21" CRT)

- Better than sony w.r.to all perspectives. For e.g sony is unneccessarily too bright and too much of colors, thanks to pran.kumar
- 2D to 3D is amazing that the poor content looks good here.( may be 3D glass filtering out some pixels)

Cons:

- Pictures are not sharp
- SD channels looks poor - may be due to Airtel broadcasting. I found better in Tata Sky
- Audio - long way to go
- Customized Settings are useless. Not able to get the required picture though it has lot of configurations etc.

Service:
LG India Service is worst and they do not support imported LG TVs, though I have bought with international warranty with custom duty paid.

On TV reviewing websites:

Never, ever decide based on reviews on those TV reviewing websites, or even based on my reviews here. Go to your friends house, watch an led tv and find out what yours need. Please go to multi brand showrooms with hd content with two/three pen drives of same content and check side by side. Then go back to the show room for the second time and check and decide.

Also these web sites are not concentrating on the following factors. This is the message to all those TV reviewing geeks! After viewing the TV for a while, now I found that most of those reviews gone unuseful. There are lot more things to be captured and reviewed which I am listing here:

--Picture Sharpness
-- Viewing the 24p cinema content
-- Viewing the regular broadcasting
-- Custom Settings review( LG is useless in the custom setting)
---Audio
-- 2D to 3D -( I found the non HD content, looks good here)
--3D depth - and control and more. I would suggest all these TV reviewers( geeks) to look into these real time scenarios before writing the reviews. Looking to update your reviews based on these real factors

Regards
Sunil
