Hi,

Whenever I play a 3D SBS movies on LG 42LW6500, it stretches it to full height. I got ripped 3D movie (The Hobbit) and it is not 16:9 resolution. Till the time I dont turn on the 3D mode, the movie aspect ratio is fine. But the movement I put it in 3D-SBS mode, the TV stretches it to full height screwing up the aspect ratio.

Is there is anyway to prevent the TV from doing this?

Thanks

+Rahul.

I have a different dilemma, I play 1080 3d rips and the tv still puts those black bars on top and bottom. That just makes the picture smaller, which in a 42 inch tv looks even more smaller

If your file origin is from torrent then there is a high probability that those rips source file is 1080p and then ripped into a 720p file. Pay attention to the details the uploader have posted and then u'll come to know. Now i have not experienced this with any of the 3D format file i have downloaded so far (under the sea, life of pi, journey to the.... (both parts)). Watched them without any bars on the screen.

First thing first, The Hobbit's original aspect ratio is 2.35:1 for both 2d and 3d versions, so you would have got the file with 2.35:1 ratio only. You can check more info here The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 3D Blu-ray

Now if you try to make it to 16:9; aspect ratio will be screwed up for sure.

Please note, few times incompatibility issues between the ripped file and TV/Player causes aspect ratio to make it in full screen 16:9 mode.
I have also got few files like that; for which original aspect ratio is 2.35:1; but in my Toshiba player, these files are played in 16:9 ratio. The only reason is ...these are badly ripped files wherein the uploader didn't care about setting the aspect ratio correctly. VLC player is smart enough to take care of such problems and always plays the file correctly; but in TV or Bluray Player you may get the problem.
All I do to solve this issue is...correct the aspect ratio settings manually by mkvmerge software. check this link: http://www.fanhow.com/knowhow:Change_Aspect_Ratio_of_a_MKV_File_61084441

As I said, if the movie's original aspect ratio is in 2.35:1 or anything else; those files will not play in 16:9 full screen mode.

Why would you like to see a movie in 16:9 always; you will anyhow loose details on screen by cropping the original aspect ratio.
