Hi All,

I have booked a LG OLED C7 65" model which will be installed by mid of this week. I want to check if there are any calibration settings really recommended as while I have gone through some of the calibration settings posted on internet, I also read that switching to Cinema mode (from Default mode) is the ideal way to view.

Cheers

Have left some links for calibration here. I personally prefer isfExpert Dark and Bright, depending on the time of day. Also, you might want to try out various calibrations before you settle on one. This process will take you a bit of time because ideally you should live with any calibration for about a week before moving to the next one.

Here's another one: LG B6 OLED TV Calibration Settings

I have used the rtings calibration on my B6 and it has worked out quite well. I think there is still room for improvement but this is fairly good as it is, and considering it was straight-forward to do in a matter of minutes.

Can't speak for C7 but the B6 default calibrations and even their "cinema" mode (and all other modes) are actually quite bad. There is way too much soap opera effect - i feel like I am watching Santa Barbara or Dallas from the 90s.

I also highly recommend having separate "dark room" and "light room" settings for night and day modes. You will notice a night and day difference, pun intended.

Have checked that Trumotion is set to off.

My TV is finally here and looking forward to sitting down with the calibration settings! Some pics.

"Default" mode is hardly watchable. Among the manufacturer's settings, I find the "Standard" mode least offensive.

I think instead of applying some settings from Internet, you should experience the pleasure as offered out-of-the-box and build your opinion about what you don't like in it. If you calibrate it straightaway you miss on some fun with a new toy.

The C7 should be close to accurate in ISF Dark and Bright modes. Use that for first 50 hours or so. Put up full 100% white and grayscale patterns to check any colour bias and adjust the 2 point. This is what I do and then sit back to enjoy. I found that settings posted elsewhere may not improve the picture and at times destroys it. No use in getting hung up on calibration unless there are relevant tools.

Agree, and that is why I have not gone over board with calibration settings. Since the one on internet being quoted is for Dark Room Expert mode, I have adjusted for that. For most of viewing, I am moving between Game and Standard and occasionally, Bright Room Expert. I find the Game mode very nice though a tad soft.

I found the Cricket one most uncomfortable but have not yet gone about adjusting its settings. However, it just plainly hurts the eyes with the over saturated green!

I have come to appreciate deep blacks after owning this set for a week! I never knew such blacks existed with my previous LCD :)

Hey, what qoute did you get for the 55" C7?

Hi,

The upfront quote (without any haggling) was, I guess, around 2.3L My memory may be failing me but it was surely less than 2.5L. However, I did not haggle as I was looking out for the 65" one. Now when I look up on the net, I have a feeling it was for B6 55 and not C7 55.

Cheers

That sounds correct, I'm getting a quote of 2.16L for 55" C7 as a starting deal, but it seems that there's no wiggle room for any bargaining, but it sounds like a good deal.

Buy extended warranty as it is worth it in case the panel goes kaput. The LG one is not cheap though. I have bought a 2 year Reliance Digital one to begin with (13K) and I will think of the LG one once I understand how exactly would it be safer in terms of panel safeguard.

Did you buy the LG one also. I bought 3 yr Reliance warranty for my 55C7T for 22.4k. LG's cost was some insane 60k+

Hi,

I haven't bought one yet from LG as I have time to go before I complete my original warranty. However, I am very inclined to go for LG one as Reliance was not very transparent with me when i bought theirs. Turns out they will look to address the issue first with their tech team before routing it to LG. I do not want non authorized guys to open my panel. I will use their for any other minor issue I may have but certainly not the panel itself.
