I can add something that requires no medicines but supposedly helps keep us healthy. They are studying the method in Western labs as they concluded it appears to be effective. Supposedly published in the Lancet from the UK.
The docs found out about the method from an 'old' Indian immigrant living in the US. He's from some place in the North, I think it was Punjab.
While discussing this with some people , a lady from Punjab said that she has heard her grand parents and others ( old folk !) talk about " eat the water and drink your food " ! I'm sure old folk in other states too must have some equivalent saying for this.
This is the procedure. When you drink water , you should take one mouthful at a time and swirl it around the mouth and swallow it gently. Then after a pause you take another mouthful and repeat the same. Continue this till the glass is empty !
However when eating food you can swallow as soon as you chew well and continue this without a break.
The reason appears to be ,to do with your immune system. When you eat , the immune system chemicals ( being produced 24/7 by your body ) don't matter so much as the chemicals from the food ( probably !) overpower the VERY minuscule amounts of immune chemicals that are being produced. The immune chemicals are for healing the body and not for digestion.
When you drink water it mixes with the immune chemicals in your mouth ( comes with saliva) and goes into your body. Doing this several times carries a lot of immune chemicals into your system. Drinking the whole glass in a few gulps does not give your mouth enough time to produce enough immune chemicals. Do not drink water soon after you eat !
Does this work ? Well the 'method' seems to have survived hundreds of years ! You can try it out and see if anything magical happens to you in say 6 months time ! It's easy. If you do find it doing something , let us know. A lot of us here have started doing it but it will take time to know if it's effective in any way ! I think six months should produce 'some' results !
