Little Hi fi or HT?

Hello everybody,
I have a question for you. I am living in Japan for few years and I would like to buy an audio system with good quality. My budget is still limited to max 50000-60000 yens. The principal use is to listen to good quality music. I would also like something I can use for movies (But this would be little use).
I checked on Amazon and I found this products (two small hi fi Onkyo and Denon, and a Onkyo 2.1 HT). Which one do you suggest?

Welcome and Congratulations on your new setup which would be in place soon. As I understand budget plays an imp role in everyones life. In some point in time you will upgrade from a 2.1 to a 5.1 or 7.1 why don't you increase your budget slightly and go for a 5.1 which will keep you happy. I use a Marantz NR series AVR which is slim in looks and performs at par with most of its competitors...see Owners of Marantz thread....The boston acoustics soundware xs 5.1 are good speakers..better than Bose.

I have used different AVRs and speakers for the past 12 years now and not found anything better than a Marantz.

End of the day, it depends on your budget, what seems good to your ears and appeals to you...all the best

Welcome to the forum.If you like music more than movies,then you can opt for stereo hifi system and not AVR.

if your main use of the system is for music, then forget about the ht route. just go for a stereo set up. you will get much better sound quality within that budget
