AFAIK, Logitech Z906 doesnt have HDMI input and will not be able to decode HD sound.
Only HDMI cable can carry HD sound, coaxial/digital cannot.

no need of HD sound just i need Dolby digital with 5.1 tats if i ply bluerays

Which player are you using? If the player has optical or coaxial out you will get 5.1 out from blu-ray disks.

how much is the logitech Z906 costing? would it be possible to stretch budget for Onkyo HT-S3500? will be more suitable and perform better in the long run.

if you will play blu ray rips...
then dont buy a blue ray player for 7k.

get a asus o play mini or something for 3k odd and put the rest on speakers.
for 23k odd you can onkyo.

if you still want logi's

they can decode dolby digital and DTS provided the blueray player/media player has a digital out.

logitech 906 is a toy ....keep away from it.buy intex 3k pc speakers instead........or mitashi 3.5k ht package
otherwise buy onk 3400
norge amp/sonodyne amp+2 sonodyne/wharfedale bookshelces

with all due respect on what basis was that comment made of not getting z906 and suggesting a 3k intex speaker.

onkyo would do justice at a 23-25k price point and optimised for movies however i dont think z906 would be comparable to intex ?

well sorry dont want to dishearten logitech owners...
logitech this models is a high end pc speakers...with some extra connection option.
when buying a proper HT system....this is really a toy in comparison to onkyo/denon/marantz/yamaha systems.

even an integrated amp 2 channel system+bookshelves will be great sounding with comparison to this....

Though its clear that you were trying to be sarcastic, but I have heard Z5500 and earlier owned Onkyo 3300, and let me tell you, Onkyo 3400 speakers are as bad as(or as good as) the logitech offering.

truly said mate.yes the low end htib from denon/onkyo comes with the most bad speakers....
but on a total comparison.....you say...a real avr and a logitech pc speaker...whom will you select
thats why i also suggexted an int amp and 2 bookshelves under 20k will be very good

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
