Hello Everyone! I just joined hifivision, this is a great place for audiovideo enthusiasts.
I am planning to buy a hometheatre for my house and my budget is about 60k. Currently I have philips bluray hometheatre hts3560. I have an led 46 hd tv and y requirement is mostly for watching hd movies(tata sky hd& brrips) . Tv is in living room which is not very big.
My requirement is a good quality av receiver and 5.1 surround sound system which can give sharp, clear surround sound. I may not need very very high volume as area is not very big. I would prefer if speaker sizes are smaller, but would not like to compromise on quality.
I'm in ncr and had visited reliance digitzl and checked out few systems sony and yamaha, but i am complete novice to this field and would highly appreciate suggestions from experienced hifians as to which avr and speakers i should go for.
Also would like to know if any of 5 speakers of my philips ht can be used in anyway with new avr or they will have to be junked.
Thanks in advance
JK

Welcome to the forum.
For a start you have a decent budget for getting a good ht. To start you must audition some speakers @ some proper dedicated home theatre showroom. You need to be more specific with regards to room size and what will you be playing music or movies in what ratio. Audition brands like boston acoustics, jamo, sonodyne, polk audio, pioneer andrew Jones...to name a few. Then post your views and many more will guide you on this.

Thanks, room size is about 250sqft, but is L shaped one, and the area where tv is kept is about 120 sqft. 80% movies and 20% music. Also would like to know which are the best shops for auditioning in gurgaon.
Thanks again

jk2015, my requirment is exactly same as yours in pune. I visited jbl showroom and found jbl cinema 500 5.1 very good . i probably buy it it from amazon.in @ around 31k.
I am still looking for decent avr in price range of 25 - 30 k. I will follow this post to learn. Hope to get more inputs from forum.

Amazon does not include customs and shipping rates. The avr is a steal @the mentioned price. Also remember that onkyo does not offer even paid service to internationally brought items forget warranty.

Checked out polk tsx330t 5.1 @70 k. Sounded ok, but think expensive. Is it a good choice?
I also auditioned yamaha floor standings @20k for a pair. it was good, but they are little big. Auditioned energy bookshelf speakers. They sounded fine too. Any feedback from experienced guys on these.
Thanks

Polk Rocks anyday for movies. Their rti series seem to be much better. Would say stay away from yamaha speakers. They are good @ making avrs. But dont think for speakers. Energy is also good. The Denon+Polk combo mates well. Try the polk tsx330t+denon x510 or denon x1100. Both are decent ones. Try auditioning boston acoustics a26 bookshelf speakers. Also would recommend you to audition jamo s426 hcs3 which retails below 30k for 5.0 package. Later buy subwoofer. Also pioneer andrew jones series is well rated speaker combo. Audition these too. If a subwoofer is included in your purchase would say buy some good bookshlef speakers+sub combo. As the sub will do the low freq work. Do check sonodyne sonous 2504fs for 24k.

yes,Also would like to know which are the best shops for auditioning in gurgaon.

Hi,JK
I'll recommend go with Denon AVR and polks Rti series speaker, if your choice is more movies less audio
Prior to purchase test different option after all individuals listening matter much

Marantz nr 1504 is on offer at 35000 on amazon. Is it a good deal. Does this support 4k. should i go for it or can i get something better at this price.

Hi JK,

I would again recommend you to go and demo them first. Each AVR + speakers combo has different sound so you have to listen it by yourself and decide. Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, Pioneer, Onkyo Not in order of oreference) all make good AVRs.

For easy set up you can consider an AVR from Denon or Yamaha (35K) and pair it with wharfedale 5.1 speakers (34k) which would be well within your budget if you dont want to get into hassless of going step by step. Wharfedale is my personal choice but you can even consider boston acoustics, polk audio, energy or Tannoy.

Goodluck.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
