All,
I have noticed that even with new records, there is a certain degree of warping to the records. Not enough to make the needle skip or jump but visible enough when you observer the edge of the record while it is playing. What is the acceptable level of warping for records? I have seen this especially with hindi records(both flipkart and Amazon). Should I be just returning them?

Thanks

I am still a novice in this art...But, none the less if you see a warped LP which was bought brand new it is frustrating.

Recently i returned 2 brand new LPs for the same reason...almost an inch from the edge of the record was warped and the needle jumped all over.

This is a clear no-no when the new ones are quite expensive. I also noticed the thinner ones are the ones which gets bent easily ( prob. bad storage or handling). The thicker ones seemed fine.

Care is the order of the day for LPs...for supplier & user. :)

With a brand new record, any warp is too much warp. They should and must be flat, especially if one is paying any sort of premium price because it's vinyl.

I suppose there are many happy customers, but I cringe at the idea of mail order for LPs! Especially international.

Warped vinyl causes speed variation, which sometimes can be noticed depending on the music. Can also create low frequency rumble but will need subwoofer to be noticed. Most good tonearms will track little warped vinyls very well.
Playing warped vinyls.
Regards.

yes speed variation is a key factor, also if you listen very carefully (if you record is clean), you can hear a gentle whoosh.... sound each time the stylus goes up and down over the warp.
