I strongly believe there are some classic combinations of phono, amplifier and speakers. I request Forum members to share their experience in this thread. While it is difficult to explain why it is so, some such combinations will out perform systems costing much more. I do experiment this in my house and previously I used to sell such good combinations, nowadays it is getting difficult to get these combinations rightly and would like to keep such magic combinations in future as I regret selling them. Let me give from my experience the best combinations I have experienced. Prima Luna Prologue One , Yaqin MS 12-B phono pre amplifier and KLH Model 5 speakers. This is the magic combination in my Listening room. Irrespective of the TT and the MM cartridge I use, the outcome is quite magical. Another combination I cannot forget is Yaqin MS 12-B phono pre, Quad 303 power and KLH Model 5 speakers. The next good combination is Nakamichi Amplifier 1 with Wharfdale C 517 stand mount speakers I am using in my Family room. It's a fantastic combination. The Nak has a dedicated phono section . Third deadly combination I have experienced is Marantz PM 80 with AR 925 E Tower speakers. I want fellow Forum members to share their magic combinations.

for me, I think I've finally reached my magic combination - My M44-7 wired to my NAD 106's phonostage, through to my NAD 3020 (through the Aux Input), driving my vintage BPL Sanyo 700T floorstanders. The NAD 3020 works perfectly with the Sanyo floorstanders. Now the sparkle and flow in Jim Reeves voice has returned (thought it was the direct drive turntable vs the idler drive turntable thing, before)

After accquiring the 3020, I've started really enjoying my cd collection as well. The Marantz cd63 SE wired to the NAD 106, through to my NAD 3020 (through the Aux Input), driving my vintage BPL Sanyo 700T floorstanders.

This may sound extremely stupid but whatever type of speakers I listen to, the sound of these old BPL Sanyo 700T speakers appeals to me. I guess its because they don't have a very pronounced mid-range which suits my listening tastes. Those liquid cooled ferro tweeters are silky smooth and can put many more expensive dome tweeters to shame.

i have found my dream combo- Thorens TD 124 with the HH scott 222B and my extremely sexy AR 3a speakers.

I am extremely satisfied with my current combination of the NAD 3020i Phonostage paired with the Jamo S606 FloorStanders. In-fact the NAD 412 Tuner also pairs extremely well with the 3020i. The NAD 306 amp also pairs well but the combo with the 3020i stands out proudly. Not to mention that the 1200 also pairs well with the primary setup.

Upgrades will not be sort after for quite a while now. I feel the Jamo S606 is underrated. These speakers have perfectly suited my environment and listening taste from the last 3 years so to speak.

Yes. I am glad you did. I am extremely glad that I had a hand in your choice. The reason why I love these old speakers is that they were made in a period when Vinyl ruled and the speakers also were designed to bring the best out of them. Reuben's BPL speakers I am sure has imported drivers and even the speaker design must have been from abroad. What is more important is what is the emotional satisfaction one gets from the combination. You could have the most expensive system but if it does not give you the emotional satisfaction, what is the use. It is this emotional dissatisfaction that's driving some audio guys to keep changing their systems. I want to thank Record Player, Reuben and Norton for posting. I am sure there are others also

My experience with Sansui has been a memorable one. The synergy between AU 317 & SU 81 passive radiator speakers was too good. Especially considering at the price I got them. Over time of about less than a year the speaker box started giving away due to the age and also me constatntly pushing them for more( Never could do 10 'O' clock on the vol knob).
I gave the speakers away a few months back before moving and only last week (with a sigh) the amp went to its new owner, very happily driving a pair of Dali Ikon Concept 6 speakers.

There are couple of TT's on sale in our forum from Shafic. They look very good, why dont you check. I can vouch for Shafic as I got my TT delivered to Bangalore in superb condition at a reasonable shipping cost.

Best of luck.
