Magnat Sound?

Any Magnat owners here? How do they sound? Especially I came across this supreme 800 towers and supreme 1000 towers .

I have a magnat 5001 interior 5.1 speaker system. Bought from amazon.de for 19K. Overall a very good performer for the price.

Whatever I've heard of the Magnats I did not like them. Same was the opinion of all the FMs attending the Pune HFV meet this year. I'd say stay away. The MS package is way better, than the magnats. I'd also sstrongly recommend against buying blind. You must listen the equipment and decide for yourself.

Well IMO a speaker is something to be heard, not seen
Moreover, driver excursion tells very little about a speakers' overall behavior which has a lot of other variables to look at. So the advice stays the same, let your ears decide.

On a lighter note with no offense meant to female FMs if any, the hubby is supposed to listen to the equipment while buying, let the aesthetics and looks be left to the better half.

I took audition of magnat quantum 603 in Pune few months ago.

Lows were not so good for low power amps(below 60 w). When connected to 100 wps amp I got satisfied with the performance. Sounds like speakers are very power hungry(just my opinion).

Magnat speakers are priced highly in India. In amazon.de they are priced very low compared to Indian price. But since they hiked the shipping charge recently, I doubt whether there will be any marginal difference.

Warranty can be claimed at authorized dealers and you would need to ship it to service center.

Absolutely agree. Magnat on a whole did not impress me I must say though that I've only heard their BS and a integrated.

I auditioned them few weeks back. was not impressed with them but their products look stunning.
before you buy audition is a must.

Thanks Venkat .I spoke to HOME THEATRE SOLUTIONS,Chennai who are the only official importers and distributors of magnat in india .

The person i spoke to quoted 50-55k for the supreme 1000 series and 40-45k for the 800 series. Both he mentioned as 5.1 package and not towers alone.

planning my trip to chennai or coimbate to audition them.

what is your idea for HT setup? is it a dedicated room?audition other brands in your budget so you will know which type of sound you like.

I owned pair of Magnat Quantum 655 floor standing speakers connected to the Marantz sr 6006.

What strikes me is the very deep bass. Magnat speakers give the music a proper foundation, and bass guitar and drums get a heaviness that few speakers bestowed.

The lower midrange is not as prominent as that of the very best, so the voices and guitars can sound a bit thin.

Treble spot is quick and distinct, speakers execute everything that happens.

In my opinion these speakers carry out the best when you listen stereo music especially deep bass fashioned in 70s and 80s Pop. You will get captivated While listening the magical deep voice of Jagjit singh and fusion music of Abida Parvee.

Watching movie in my acoustically treated Home theater brings a height of ecstasy paired with these amazing speakers.

I have ordered Magnat Monitor Supreme 2000 Towers, Expecting them to get delivered next week. Have purchased norge 1000 amp for them.

Hope the combo sound great

I have one question in mind, that will the norge 1000 or norge 2000 will pair best with these towers ?

Also , if I go with a remote option for norge amp, then will I loose on TONE DEFEAT button ?

@ramanjogi , I also listen mostly into the heavymetal stuff. also i am a M Jackson . seems like they gonna sound right for my ears. Don't they come with 5 year warranty ? I see monitor supreme series comes with 5 year warranty .

@anubhav, please post ur reviews here on the supreme 2000 with as much detail as u can . That will be helpful


I found a dealer in salem(30 mins travel from my town) and he quoted 18000 for the supreme 800 towers when we are on the phone ..he also invited for a demo... so gonna listen them in 2 to 3 days .

Have been using Magnat 2000 with Yamaha A-S500 for a good time now.
Must say initially I was not happy with there performance. But then it was all my fault. I had installed them in a 11x12 room which was making a lot of bass ( Actually a LOT ).

So then moved these towers to the bigger room which is 25x16 in size. Things sound perfect there. The bass is neat , clean and deep. In some tracks its hard to make out that is the bass coming just from the towers or is there a SUB hidden somewhere.

Mids are the area where these towers are worth praising. Mids are excellent , Very Very clear. Play just any vocal rich track on them and it sound amazing.

Highs are also good enough. Even in extremely poor room acoustics ( No carpet on floor , No thick curtains , Plus presence of a lot of wooden furniture ., plus there being a huge big glass right at the back of towers ) these towers are doing wonders. I am very much sure if I get a proper room treatment done then things will be way better.

The yamaha A-S500 is powering them well enough. The sound get way too loud at just 12'o clock position , havent cranked full volume till date.

I am currently using two sources to play my music ,
1. El-cheapo Philips DVD player
2. My laptop , connected via Fiio E7 DAC to Yamaha A-S500.

I doubt that my source is still not even good enough. So once i get a better DAC or a better dedicated CDP, then things will be even more good.

P.S - Although these towers produce some amazing deep bass, but I am still thinking of adding a dedicated SUB in that room. Considering that the room is like 400sqft odd, so a little more thump will even enhance the low frequency effect.

FM's Kindly drop in your suggestion for good subs which I shall consider.
Polk Audio DSW125 or Polk Audio DSW 660wi ? or just some other ?
Usage will only be stereo music.
