Marantz NR1510 + MISSION M-CUBE (SE) Volume

Hi All,

I recently got Marantz NR1510 + MISSION M-CUBE (SE), and use a Amazon Fire TV Stick to watch movies. I connected the Fire TV Stick to one HDMI input port in the AVR, and the ARC/eARC is connected to a projector for the video.

What I find is, the volume has to be raised at least 50% to be able to hear anything (also checked with internet radio and USB audio playback).
Only at 65% it is decently loud. Is this normal?

Also, whenever I switch on/off, the subwoofer makes a popping sound, is this normal?

Can I also use a voltage stabilizer for the AVR? (Everest 1KVA). There have been voltage fluctuations in our area, and have done some damage in our neighborhood.

Hi,

Have you done setup using Audyssey? If not please do.

Donwload the Owners Manual which is available online.

Once Audyssey setup is done, check if there is any improvement.

Conservatively, source volume levels are at 0. You can adjust the same to 10. This will help to give some gain and good output.

Try this things and let us know.

You can use a stabilizer if you feel there is a need, other members can chime in their recommendations.

I have NR1200, it gives proper out only after 40-50% for analog with 90% at source and Heos inputs, 50-60% for Bluetooth. Didn't try HDMIs yet.

A few questions first...
What's your room size?
Is it a dedicated space or a living/bedroom?
Speakers to MLP (main listening position) distance?

Some pointers...
The Mission M-Cube (SE) speaker set has a rather low sensitivity of 85db, and your Marantz NR1510 has an output of 50W per channel at 8 ohms - which is adequate to drive them, but barely so. Hence as suggested above, first use Audyssey to calibrate your system to your space, and if that doesn't help much - try and increase the input source level (max possible level = 10) using the onscreen setup menu. Remember, it may cause some distortion if your AVR amplifier circuits can't keep up...
A low-level popping sound from the subwoofer (when switching on/off) is quite normal - there could be many reasons:

1. Auto-On Feature: Some subwoofers have an auto-on feature that can cause a popping sound when the subwoofer turns on or off.
2. Power Issues: Low power or an underpowered receiver can cause the subwoofer to pop.
3. Interference: Nearby electronic devices or improper wiring can interfere with the subwoofer and cause popping sounds.
4. Loose Connections: Loose or faulty wiring can also lead to popping noises.

If the popping sound is frequent or loud, it might be worth checking the connections, moving the subwoofer away from other electronic devices, or disabling the auto-on feature.
