Hi

Welcome to HFV

I am not an expert in TTs but if you are getting it for 1600/- it seems like a steal deal provided everything is in order and it is working fine...before purchase...check first if spares / parts are replacable and easily available....

Would also indulge you to check the posts under Phono / Turntable....this will help to get some idea and guidance....

All the best

Oops, i m sorry. It was 16000rs.its a direct drive automatic tt. Should i go for it to start with or buy an AUDIO TECHNICA AT LP120? This will cost me 46000 on Amazon.in,
but for that i have to wait sometime.

plenty of options available in project turntable as various price points. some good offers available currently @ recordplayer.in

I would say yes with some caveats
1. you're not in a metro, and you do not have access to the metro dealers by virtue of frequent travel
2. you don't have the the opportunity to buy from abroad
3. the TT is in perfect cosmetic condition - no scratches on the dust cover, body etc, no fading/tarnishing of finish on the controls, all original parts intact (incl 45 rpm adapter)
4. all functions work, esp anti skate, and auto functions such as repeat, size, cueing
5. you are looking specifically for an auto TT for the convenience it offers, and are ok with the increased complexity ( which may cause it to have more issues than a manual/semi auto tt)
6. it has a new cart and stylus combo from a current mfr (shure, audio technica etc). if it still has the old cart, it is rather crappy, and you will have to invest another 3-5k to replace it

Thanks folks and thanks greenhorn for detailed analytical approach , it
Looks i should go for it. Presently i have a COSMIC COGRAM 4000 direct drive tt. I have an old NATIONAL PANASONIC ledsonic 3600 stereo with phonoamp.in this and 8ohm speakers. What should be my next step to upgrade the system? Thanks to FM, i found this forum.

the tt you have is a pretty decent mid end TT - to get something better, you'll have to invest a lot more for a much more expensive TT like a technics sl 1200 etc - what exactly are you missing with your current TT? might be cheaper to just do a good service :)

also, I have a ledsonic 1800, and it came with a phono input for a ceramic cart, not MM. Not able to get specs of the 3600, but if you are using a ceramic cart, you might want to upgrade to a better MM cart. Which cart do you use currently?

also, you could consider some better speakers if you are still using the original speakers

Thanks greenhorn, ledsonic 3600 have options of both ceramic n magnetic. My current tt platter does not remain on plane level. Cosmic tt i purchased had shure cart n stylus. I do not know the specs.
