I'm in finalizing stage for Amp NAD THX 2700 and Marantz MM 7025
I'm having KEF Q 500 speakers
Kindly suggest which amp would be best for sounding clearity:yahoo:

it is a difficult question. There are people who loves Marantz and same is true for the Nad also. People who like Nad feels that Marantz is on brighter side and people who like Marantz says that Marantz is neutral. audition is the best way to take a call.

Generally Kef speakers pair well with Marantz.

Hell, you are so near Mumbai. Get in touch with members from Mumbai and go across to get auditions. Am sure many will be willing to help you.

+1 to above. I have read somewhere that KEF uses Marantz amplification for their Demos.

But as Amit mentioned above, please audition before you choose :).

Hi Andis,
Since you are in Nashik I would strongly suggest you to get in touch with Sachin (His handle is sachu888) and explore the Pass B1 pre amp. He is a very helpful gentleman and can surely guide you well. With a little help you can easily DIY this amp. You can get any decent matching power amp. Give this pre a very serious look and you will not be disappointed. Your dilema of warm/bright will get solved as it is completely transparent.

Take my word and please explore this option also. The pre-power combo will give you flexibility in future as well to mix and match different pre-power combinations. Please explore this option before taking any decision.

I thought you may not be aware so thought it may help you in knowing that this is also an good option.

Regards!

Its better to audition, yes NAD is more laid-back while Marantz is a tad aggressive, also depends on the kind of music you listen to. The method that worked for me was to use Marantz (CD63SE) as the source with NAD amplification. Works brilliantly well for me.

Hi,
+1 to that. Also I suggest the OT starter to try Boston Acoustic speakers with Marantz amp as they are both from the D&M Holdings stable.

Just my Rs.2/-.

I have experienced a different experience. No doubt that technically B1 is transperent and dont add any signature, but if the source (CDp/DAC/Soundcard) has a volume control, using a poweramp directly (with caution)gives the best sound.I tried B1 with Rotel poweramp, which was a decent combo, but moment I bypass B1 and connected poweramp directly to my xonar soundcard, sound was so good that I felt I didnt need any pre.B1 sounded lifeless only after comparing it with direct poweramp connection to soundcard. Here my soundcard acts as pre too.Still B1 has its own plus. Also I liked it paired with asus DAC, Norge power amp and Focal speakers when I attended Pune meet.
Hope I didn't confused you, just sharing my experience.:)
