I got a Micro Seikie DDX 1000 about a month back in the most dead condition any player can be. It was just a lump of dirt and rust and in most pathetic condition. Someone had pulled out a Micro Siekie arm and SME arm from it's arm pods leaving only the stumps. I should say, someone had priced it out so badly, nothing could have been done to those precious arms ever. What a pity! Anyway, I knew I must get it to work no matter what it cost. Just to open up the player and control unit was an exercise. After more than a month's efforts, it's singing with a beautiful early SME 3012 model tonearm and Shure 97 XE cart. The effort it took to revive this TT makes me confident of taming most such TTs provided there are no critical parts unavailable. It sounds as good as any of my top players and may start giving competition to the leading ones after it runs for some time. It keeps perfect speed and has very very high torque. My brother just came and is stunned by the wide sound stage and I am listening to a record from Frank Sinatra's songbook volume 2. The orchestra sounds like a live performance with Frank singing right from the center.A good feeling specially after knowing that none of those who saw it's condition ever thought it's possible that it can come alive as it has. Now for some pictures. I am yet to paint it give it a face lift which will be done after it runs for a couple of months

truly amazing but I am quite curious to know what is in the dust bin in the first picture :)

The dust bin was there to scrap all the rust and dirt from the TT. Rueben, I am just waiting for your visit to demo the Micro Sieki . You will be amazed how Jim Reeves sounds on it.

Feb'2014, that's a promise.

I am particularly interested in dustbins and junk boxes of enthusiasts as thats where a lot of useful bits and pieces reside.

Norton,
You have always encouraged me and I must thank you for that. I had an opportunity to demo the Micro Seiki to a friend and he was quite impressed by the timing and sound stage especially when I played Pink Floyd's "dark side of the moon"".

Great job! You should start restoring high quality vintage TTs in you spare time. Its very hard to find people who take so much care and do it with love.

I have been following Sir "Gerrard's" thread as usual and can see the effort he has put into this restoration.

This is the first time I am daring to post on his thread.

I do not have the ability to comment about this player as I am a "BABY" as far as record players go.

But I do know that he is a gentleman who can go out of his way, drop into my house, give off a BELT free to me and even take time to explain basic things to me (which I am sure he knows as the back of his palm and I am an absolute novice at) and BE EVER SO HUMBLE ABOUT IT.

Kuruvilla sir, hats off to you!
