min system reqd for blu ray backup

hello seniors...help me please..
my old p4 system need to be changed.
now i am planning to have a system for blu ray backup.

my main aim is downloading only and blu ray ripping....no game..no blu ray disc playback..

will core 2 duo/amd phenom X2 and acording mobo+1 GB extrnal graphic card+blu ray drive be okay for that.....

or higher processor+mobo is needed??
no game and no playback is for sure....just blu ray backup and a downloading rig....

If you are just going to make BD ISO or rip using makeMKV to MKV format without compression then you can use your existing P4 itself. You will need a blu-ray reader, AnyDVD HD, makeMKV and Virtual Clone Drive. If you are going to reencode the video to save on space, you will need a much faster system. You can go for core2duo or amd llano or trinity CPUs. You don't need a GPU for ripping.

You will also need a lot of disk space. I suggest that you do not use external USB HDDs even though they are so convenient. But I guess that your old P4 has IDE drives. IDE is hardly in existance today - the standard today is SATA. Modern BD drives are also SATA. So you may require to change mobo afterall.

If that is the case, then you can go with a cheap upgrade no more than 25k as follows:

- Intel i3 Processor (about 5-6K)
- Motherboard with on board graphics (about 5K)
- 1TB internal SATA HDD (about 5k)
- internal SATA BDE drive (about 6K)
- New cabinet (about 1.5K)

You may reuse the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

Software will cost another 10K: Genuine Windows 7/8 (6K). Any DVD HD (EUR 79) is a must for ripping. Rest as baiju described are mostly freeware.

my pc was in trouble and i was suspecting mobo is gone so was thinking for upgrade..luckily its the smps only who is self destroyed...
so not upgrading now.
