Hi guys, this is my first post, I've been following this forum and it helped me a lot to gain knowledge in av world.
For past few years, I've been using sony htib which was good for its price point. The only frustration I had was, it doesn't have any digital inputs for audio. So watching downloaded movies in 5.1 is a no go. Also the sweet spot is very much limited, u can pinpoint the sound direction, the sound dispersion is very narrow.
Before upgrading, I auditioned the following,
1.Wharfedale ms100 5.1
Yes, the sound quality was much better than htib, sound pans smoothly between all the channels creating a good environment.
2. Wharfedale diamond 10.1
It gave me that notable difference in 5.1 system after comin from an htib.so I decided to build my system slowly depending upon the budget.
Sound was very warm, bass was very good but little boomy when placed
closed to wall.
3. Dali Zensor 1
The sound dispersion was great, bass is not that great when compared to 10.1 but the details in sound and the soundstage was much better. You cannot pinpoint the sound direction and all you hear is just the sound panning around you.
As my budget allows only a pair of bookshelves for now, it performed much better than 10.1 in 2.0 stereo mode for watching movies in my laptop. It provides me with a gud tight bass and a sound that envelops which will leave you forget that it is in 2.0 mode.
Auditioned yamaha 475 and denon x1000
Watched few movies avatar, the hunger games etc.
The distanced sounds are well rendered in X1000 but no significant difference between them. I opted for x1000 as it was upto my liking.
Now paired it up with dali Zensor1 and yes its a big jump from a htib.
