My Small Setup.. need your help

Input:
my alienware m15x laptop - has hdmi output (video/audio) and internal 5.1 surround sound (audio)
my PC - has nvidia 8800 gt output (for video) and old p5b mobo 5.1 stereo (for audio)
ipod, sundth (not hd)

Output:
22" lcd monitor for tv and my old PC
optoma hd20 projector (for hd movies and hd home vidoes) - TO BUY

energy take classic 5.1 speakers
yamaha RX-V367 5.1 HT receiver with ipod dock

room setup:
room size 20' X 10'
100" diagonal screen with a seating distance of atleast 13'
22" lcd monitor behind the screen where i will be using my PC

Not intended to buy bluray player or lcd tv in near future.. Have lots of questions on this setup, before that need to get you comments if this will work out, so i can buy the missing parts. Thanks.

If you are going to sit 13 feet from the screen, you would need a more powerful AVR and larger speakers. The 367 and Energy speakers are meant more for a 25 to 30 square feet area. Something like what you would have when you are playing a game and have speakers surrounding just you.

I am assuming you are looking for a good, large, and powerful soundstage.

hey thx for that.. other than movies in projector, i will be in my PC for all other stuffs, where i will be utilizing may be 10'X10' of the room.. also i have bought this and there is no going back.. i need help to confirm if i can direct all the inputs from my laptop and PC with 5.1 channel audio and hd video to the receiver and hence to the projector as well. Or anything else i am missing in this?

Hi guys..

So now i have the laptop with hdmi output and got the receiver as well. I will be coming to India by december, now in US. I am going to bring all these.

Now want to check the audio setup, yet to get the projector though.
I will be using 13 X 10 of my room, First i will go with energy take classic 5.1 speakers and yamaha RX-V367 5.1 HT receiver.

for the audio setup, please guide me the wires i need to buy. Hopefuly i can use my hdmi output of laptop as audio input and what speaker wires and subwoofer wire should i need to buy. I am new to this, would be great if you could point me the US links to buy. Thanks. Please help...

Can you audition the Energy speakers there before buying-if so it might be worth doing that.

I bought standard copper wire from Home Depot to wire up my speakers-nothing fancy( and costly)

lets say for 10 X 15 room how much wire (in feet) i need to buy? and also what spec? like 12 guage or 16 guage..
Also for the subwoofer, i see rca cable required will be with single pin from my receiver to the subwoofer with right and left channel. Not sure which one i need to buy. please advice. Thanks

Convert your feet into meters and buy the cable. Have 1 or 2 meters extra just incase. For your small speakers get 14 awg..That shld be fine... You can find audioquest speaker and sub cables. Please search online....

thanks... 14 awg - you mean 14 gauge? sorry am not getting it.. ? and for the subwoofer cable Amazon.com: Monster Standard THX-Certified Subwoofer Interconnect Cable (16 Ft): Ice-T: Electronics this seems to have single pin on both sides..

but i need to put in left and right pin as shown in the sub woofer.. image sorry about my ignorance, if am asking something awkward..

AWG is american wire gage. Read this article as it will guide you what is the importance .. And on a sidenote bluejean cables are very well regarded ... Check them out too...

You can use speaker level input or RCA type cable both for connecting the subwoofer...

I too have the same kind of requirement similar to boo3dmax.
I m constructing my House in Coimbatore. It has a Hall for 16' x 17' where I want to put my HiFi Home Theatre System. Right now I m doing Wiring for my Ground Floor.

I m looking for dual setup, like LED TV (preferably Sony Brava 3D 44")/Monitor
at the Back and Projector Screen in the Front, which is remote operated, I ve planned to enclose all the gadgets like CPU, Play Station, Amp, DVD Player inside the Interiors and going to use wireless Keyboard and Mouse which will be operated from Sofa.
Even provision given for RJ45 & RJ11 slot for Broadband Connections.

I looking for proper System in place to meet my functionalities. Budget is not a constraint, but to a certian extent. What is your Recommendation for,

1. Projector Screen - remote operated - screen width max 6 feet.
2. Over Head Projector - Luminance?, Lamp life?
3. Audio System 5.1 Channel.
4. Amp.
5. Any DVD Players, preferably in Sony.
