Got it finally over the weekend
and man it makes such a huge difference over my 40" Lcd .
The main reason i decided to go for it was a display in Croma with Vu tvs .
they had a kept a 55 right below a 40" and man the 40" which is actually big was looking tiny in front of it .
see the pic below .looks almost double

And yes its a Smart Tv though
It has 3D too ,but not a main point for me .as i havent got a 3d player yet .
and i just find the SOny package of 30 K for a Region C PS3 not very VFM ..

I rewatched some of the old classics like die hard on blu ray (which i hadnt wtached on my 40" and previously only seen on CRT ) and man its watching a new movie altogether

i've yet to do a lot of experimentation with settings & calibration etc
so will report back in a while

Congrats,
Please upload bigger picture for comparison, the attached thumbnail is not justifying.

also please add pictures of new TV and your views.

Thanks.

Congrats! but that is not an LED tv rather it is just a normal LCD tv with LED back lighting.

good .. but the bigger the size more better content it demands else looks very bad , HD channells ,only 8GB+ rips , only blurays

how many HD channels ,blurays u can buy ... think [this is for other guys ]

i got a 40incher LED needs min 2GB rips for real good picture ...

Also 3D tech is not matured , it degrades the HD to SD in 3D....guys dont spent 20% extra for a 3d enabled tv

Hey guys thanks
niv -thats not my TV ,thats just a comparision i put up
im putting up pic now of my setup .
Kaushik -iv been onto only Hd content since 3 yrs now ,with 1080 p mkvs played thru my Tvix 6500 or blurays .and got a huge collection .
SD hasnt been watchable for me since a long time now

3D yes i agree ,its just the beginning ,not enough content .
but when going for a new model might as well go for it as theprice diff wasnt much ..

As for the price got it for 1.37 in grey market instead of store as i had lot of other purchases to do for my total setup and im not much bothered with Bill etc
can DM details if any of you need
prices shd come down after IPL further

can u tell me more of experience from grey market, plz pm u r number i wanted 2 have same tv ,it would be my pleasure if u help me so.

^^Not true - those are LCDs with LED back lighting too. The so called full LEDs are just normal LCDs with LED back light that have local dimming.

Real LED screens are the AMOLEDs you see on phones.

hey franco12,i too was interested in this tv in the grey market, but still considering the risk involved.do they give you a fresh piece and what about further discounts and most of all what about warrenty. would appreciate if you could PM me the proper addresses & the persons name whom to contact.THANKS IN ADVANCE
p.S ...CONGARTS ON YOUR NEW TV.LOOKS AWESOME,enjoy...

.. but isnt LED always an LCD with LED backlight instead of CFL?

NO.

Nowadays Samsung and LG have come up FULL LED Technology.....not just backlit...LE7500

NO.

LG has few full array local dimming LED back lighting , Philips has one on their top end model, this years Sony has one in the top end model too.

The LED back lighting is back lighting and thats a self explanatory term, if people don't understand it and confuse it with the LCD panel which actually produces picture then i guess they are not spending time in thinking.

LCD unlike Plasma or AMOLED requires back lighting since their pixels wont individually light up, so a CFL or an LED is used for that purpose, in modern LCD TV's LED back lighting is used more often than CFL.

LED back lighting has many ways of implementation and each have thier own positive and negatives.

Thanks goa
yes of course ,fresh piece ,straight from Airport .
this would be discounted price but it will fluctuate based on demand .
In grey market, just like phones ,there is no warranty
if you need any details ,just pm me
and no point debating about OLED's which havent even hit the international market .
when buying just try to get the best available at that time and even more imp in your budget .
IMO even better would have been Samsung 55 " C/ D 8000 with super narrow bezel (almost no bezel) which just makes the picture jump out ,which is more than 2.20 Lacs.

gray market guys get tvs in 50% and sale 10 k or 5 k less than Mrp .In bangkok and singapore i saw the prices were as low as 50%

You forget that they have to pay for the shipping charges via air.
They most probably have to pay some forum of duties to custom.
This year i see most grey pieces being brought from singapore, where the prices are much more expensive then bangkok.
