Hi,

At present I am using Marantz PM7001 with Cambridge audio dac magic plus and my speakers are PSB Image T6.
I was thinking of upgrading my stereo setup.

Need your opinion of Naim NAIT 5si for PSB Image T6. Any one in the forum heard this combo? I would like to know the opinion about this combo.

I am planning to get it from Dubai through my cousin. I don't have the option to have a demo in Bangalore currently. If I want to buy that I need to decide before coming Wednesday.

I know that it is not good to buy with out audition . But still I would like to know the opinion of you guys on the same. I have read that I need to use Naim cables for better performance. I will get Naim speaker cable if I am buying it.

Can you guys share your opinion on the same?

Thanks
Renjith

What kind of music do you listen to? Naim amps are fast and are good all rounders...I have a Naim XS-2 (not the new model) for sale with the NACA5 speaker cables and they sound great with the Harbeths...selling as I got another amplifier...

If you can manage to bring your speakers to my home , we can pair it with the nait 5si before you make the decision

Nothing specific, I hear Hindi, Tamil, malayalam movie songs and bit of English songs.I like good clarity at less volume.
Sir I have seen your sale post. I will PM you.

instead of the amp.. take a closer look at different speakers with marantz 7001.

u could take the marantz amp to FM's homes instead or to dealers also and try out various speakers with it and identify the sound you like.

many times its the source ( source material ) that needs looking at and not just the amp or the speaker in isolation.

carrying the amp is logistically easier as well.

there are a few bangalore FM's houses which have some really good setups if you dig around a bit.. try to take their help instead of a time constrained approach.

Naim alone cannot be a route to audio bliss.

take your time and be deliberate about what you do and arrive at your own conclusion.

anyways.. your ball..

However there is one thing about naim , at the least in the naits price league , it is hard to find a alternative that is as enjoyable as naim .

Naim is definitely worth upgrade over Marantz model you have mentioned.
Would suggest go for it, but best couple would be NAIM+PSBIMAGINE T2.
PSB T6 are good for HT setup and loud party music IMO, Imagine-T2 would do the justice with NAIM. You can have the audition after getting your NAIM.
Cheers

Thanks dheerajin for your thoughts on the same.
I agree that Imagine T2 and Synchrony are good speakers.
But many times I feel I never got the best from PSB Image T6 itself, may be it could be due to my living room. So at this point of time I am trying to get better performance from present speaker and was thinking of changing amp if that will give me a substantial improvement over my present amp.

As I said before I have seen my friends system which is not expensive sounds very good in his place. I am trying to get best from the existing speaker.

Yes.. I agree on your point of getting best out from T6...renjith..and i am sure.Naim..will give overall improvement..that you are expecting.

Dear mpw,

I am using FLACs and CDs as source and using my blue ray player as transport and DAC. So I guess source is ok, not bad.

I have recently added spikes to my speakers that will make it difficult to take T6 to other places. At this point of time I am not planning to change speakers.

I perfectly agree with you that Naim nait 5si alone may not solve my issue. Many times I feel I didnt get best from T6 itself. Some times I feel my living room is the biggest problem.
Thanks for your time.
