Hello,

I need an urgent suggestion on my HT setup. I've replaced my 5.1 receiver with a 7.1 denon 2106 (used). For my 5.1, I was using energy take classic 5.1 set where speaker impedence is 8 ohm. Now that I can add 2 more speakers, I am thinking of connecting 2 of my old sony bookshelfs as surround back and I see they are at 6ohms. I'm confused whether I can connect them since it's going to be a mix of 6 and 8 ohms. Could you Pl advise me, and in case I can add those speakers, do I need to change any setting in the receiver? Would appreciate if anybody can help me, I'm not an expert in this area.

Regards,

If you are listening at moderate volumes and not "cranking" it to be very loud you should be fine. Lower ohm loads are harder for an amp to drive.

But the difference between 6 and 8 ohms is negligible if you are, again, not stressing your amp with high volumes.
