Hey all,

This is my first post on this forum.

I would be getting married soon and then moving into a new flat. I wanted to invest in a home theater setup which is not very heavy in the pocket (below 40k). I had originally shortlisted the YHT-299 but as a new model has come, there are very few in stock and the newer YHT-2910 somehow doesn't justify the price tag.

Wanted help in getting a good HTiB. I'm open to suggestions. How are the reviews on the Pioneer HTP-323. Somehow, the HTP-RS33 seems like a really good package, and to be honest I wouldn't mind spending 45k for the setup.

I would be going one of these weekends to audition the various devices out there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :clapping:

Hi Bajwa2307,

Firstly congratulations! All the best for your wedding.

The key to any home theatre is to audition as many models as possible. We can recommend you models / brands which we will should work well at the end of the day it all depends on your budget and what appeals to you in looks and performance...you would be hearing your kind of music and watching a certain segment of movies...

Yamaha / Pioneer / Denon have good entry level Home Theatre systems....choose wisely!

If budget is a constraint and you are open to pre owned systems, check the For Sale by Owner section or Hifiads, I am sure you will find something more better. Most of us have used different AVRs through the years with changes in brands etc...on a personal level, I used a variety of brands over the last 12 years and now finally settled for a Marantz...

All the best

Hey guys,

So did a few auditions since my last post. First off was the Onkyo - 3500. Well to be honest, this was my first time listening to a proper home theatre. I liked the sound but somehow Im not really drawn towards the Onkyo brand (just a personal thing). The price quoted was Rs 33000.

Next up I went to Bass & treble here in Gurgaon to audition some setups. I was hoping that I could audition the Pioneer Rs-43 but they only stock pioneer AVRs and not the speakers. So I ended up auditioning the Wharfedale moviestar with a Yamaha rx-477 amp. Really good sound both in movies and songs. The setup was a little out of budget with the price coming to around 61k.

Next, went to reliance digital. They had a pioneer Rs-33 hooked up out in the open. Listened to some songs and it was quite ok. Price quoted was 48k and a phillips BD player at a discounted rate at 2k. They didnt have RS-43.

I checked hifimart and came across deal

Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker System

bundled with a Pioneer vs-x523, the price comes to 45k, Is this a good deal? I've heard alot about the BA's so will the jell well with this AVR?

Shortlisted items (Budget increased to 50k)

1. Yamaha 299 (If I can find one and at a cost lower than the new yht-2910, else will for the latter)
2. Pioneer + Boston Acoustic xs 5.1 - 45k from hifimart
3. Pioneer RS-43 - Rs 45k to 50 k

somehow I'm inclined towards the rs-43 because of the looks and the bundled FS speakers.

Guidance needed... please help :(

Hi

The festive season is on and would suggest you check with other Home Theatre dealers for some good deals. I am sure Reliance Digital / Vijay Sales / Croma etc. would be coming out with some offers over this long weekend....better to wait for a day or two.

The bostons are good value for money in terms of performance etc....i have been using the same over a year now with a Marantzz AVR. Reliance Digital had the bostons + marantz a couple of months ago for some 55k with a player free....guess it is over but heard that they are giving out Yamaha YHT 199 or something with a free blu ray player...pls check

All the best
